If you never supported Aston Villa

What football club would support and would it even be football......

Imponderable... the thoughts of supporting anyone other than Villa just leaves me cold. It's not just the football, it's not just the ground, it's the everything...

It would most likely be Wolves as my Dad supports them.

But the very thought of it makes me gag, it's too horrific to contemplate. I would probably (hopefully?) have no interest in football.

:10:

In the basis that Avfc didn't exist.

With a baggie season ticket holder Dad, brother and now this season, niece. I would be with the obsessed aswell I suppose.

Wonder who they would be obsessed with if we were not around?

Many moons age , about 49 years actually , I occasionally went to the Baggies with my Uncle (only when Villa were away) to watch the likes of the great Liverpool , Leeds sides etc .
Albion had won the Cup in 68 so all my mates at school were glory hunting Baggies but me I had to be different .
How Lucky I was !!! :4: :94: :94: :94:

Yes, in the early years of him watching football in the early 60's my dad said he would be watching baggies and villa in alternate weeks. Seemed to happened alot back then. Must have been the drugs and free love warping peoples judgement. :139:

I can;t imagine it , I simply can't. My Dad is a Villa fan as was his Dad so it's ingrained in the family.

I have no idea who else we would have supported and the thought of supporting anyone else makes me ill.

Well, i was indoctrinated at birth. My dad is a Villa supporter.

So, who ever my Dad supported most likely.

The question is who would he have supported?

I guess he'd have followed in his Dad's footsteps if he'd been a supporter.

My grandad was from Durham but wasn't that interested in football, not that my Dad is aware of anyway (mad for cricket). I don't even know who he supported and my Dad isn't too sure either but he did bang on about Jackie Milburn so take from that what you will.

I would cease to be the person I am.

That would be a great loss to the rest of us BBJ, so you are exempt from this thread.

Like a few on here I'd most likely be a baggies fan. When my dad came over from Belfast in the 50s he lived in handsworth and would watch villa and/or baggies every weekend. He was absolutely nuts about football. Luckily for me he took a greater shine to the villa before I was born. Hence the reason I visit this site.

Impossible question. Difference between choosing a club and inheriting one. Inheriting one means you get the pain you just can't have by adopting a club.

But, clubs I have some time for:
a) MU, because under SAF they played attacking football whatever.
b) Chelsea, because I enjoyed watching them in the 60s when I was in London, and today because their super-rich owner is also an enthusiastic fan. Also, they're not Arsenal or Spurs or WHU.

My dad came over from Belfast in the 1950s too, Beovilla; in the early spring of 1956 to be precise. I wonder did they know each other? - just a thought.
He was never a huge football fan but he did have a particular liking for the Baggies. He called Villa the "hall of memory" club. (I I wonder why?) However, he also used to send me the "Argus" every Saturday night (I was still living in Northern Ireland) and I latched onto Villa from reading the match reports. Then when I made my first visit ot Brum in 1963, he brought me to see Villa v Bolton. The die was irrevocably set!

How kind you are - thank you, Colin! :14:
I do support Glentoran in the Irish League (as does Jonah, I believe).
