If you follow " Lincoln City Fans" on Facebook, don't...

...the man is the biggest victim player I've ever seen. Will bang on about being a great place to be, so family-friendly, etc, but he is so full of bullshit it is scary.

I emailed him the other night, doing nothing wrong whatsoever, and he named me on his page within hours. Slagging off this site and I.

There are MANY examples of this despite the fact he plays the victim.

Out of curiosity I had a look at Fans, but can't see anything recent on that page. Is it Lincoln City Banter which is a private page?

Every club has a self appointed "fans leader" who is invariably a dickhead. At Cardiff, it's Annis Abraham.

I remember him - he tried to take over Merthyr Town 15 or so years ago. Seemed a very dodgy character.
Indeed, heavily involved with Sam Hamman, who would have done to Cardiff what he did to Wimbledon amongst other nefarious things.

It's an offshoot from Banter (because us Imps have so many fans we can afford to split ourselves into a bunch of rival factions each taking lumps out of each other online) which is kind of the inevitable way these things work on social media.
- Fanbase expands because of success
- Social media coalesces around 1 or 2 "main" fan sites that most fans belong to one or both
- Eventually critical mass hits and some elements of one of the sites become unhappy with the way the site is run / administered
- A bunch of those members split off and form a separate site to do things "properly" as they see it.
- A slanging match ensues as sides are chosen and lines are drawn regarding how they differ
- Life goes on and eventually everyone forgets what happened except for a few dedicated members of the original sites
- Some of the sites whither and die, often as the teams success takes a nosedive
- And the whole cycle starts again every 10 years or so depending on the teams success rise and fall...

No, it is a page that somehow has 8,400 followers. Laura actually had a look at about 10 random followers, and not one had a link to Lincoln City in any way, which is really funny because of what he claims about the page.

Facebook groups aside, Cardiff has three main fans' forums. The oldest is that of Annis Abraham (generally known as the Dark Side) and then there is another that has been around for 20-odd years.

My own home forum came about getting on for 9 years ago comprising members of the other two forums who were disenchanted with the mood and direction of their respective messageboards ......... cliques, the same old arguments, lack of tolerance by board owners manifesting as posts being amended or deleted and bans freely handed out to anyone who didn't toe the party line.

Essentially it's the same story with most clubs and we gravitate towards the outlet that best suits us. If the others want to be bitter and twisted, good luck to them, but don't expect to engage those who have moved on to greener pastures.

I don't really visit other teams forums, other than to wallow in their tears, cry's of despair and demands for something to change when they have been beaten by little of Lincoln...

One of the worst pages I’ve ever seen. Bloke just spams ai rubbish and spouts about how much he understands about safeguarding laws. If he knew it that well he wouldn’t be uploading betting odds if his page is supposedly child friendly

He should be given a banning order, or at least the threat of one.

The club have to be consistent with the way they treat people.

Are clubs really that bothered about, let alone, influenced by what's on social media?

Such people are normally viewed as self-important would be "influencers", who, basically, have little else of interest in their lives.

You'd be surprised, but I can't run the risk of saying too much.

Ah, I've found the page now and, to be honest, I don't see any problems. Maybe I don't have the full history, but given that we are in the off season, proactive site or page owners are going to go off grid to perpetuate interest.

The core members of my home forum are creating some pretty oblique threads (not for the faint hearted) just to keep things ticking over until the proper footy starts again.

Sure there are some WC and Championship odds quoted on that Facebook page, but there are no links to online betting or gaming sites and access to under 16s is going to be restricted as well. I think I have seen Championship odds quoted on here recently, but that is what one would expect..

Perhaps I am missing something being an outsider, but I am not a Facebook fan and can't be bothered looking further than the front page.

He has targeted several people on his page now, one of which was me the other day, now my partner.

He starts a campaign about bullying, etc, yet the biggest bully is him for targeting people in the public domain.

I didn't do anything wrong, nor did Laura, and he doesn't allow the right to reply on certain posts. Doesn't that tell you all you need to know?

He is terrified of being exposed on his own page.

Sounds very much like the individual I mentioned down in Bluebirdland and sorry to see that it is creating a distressing situation for you.

As you say, the best way of combatting someone like that is to ignore them and starve the fire of oxygen.

Anyway, proper footy tomorrow, which is far more important. You at Boston and Bluebirds hosting Danish opposition FC Midtjylland ........ can't wait!

This is why I don’t do online stuff much. People hide behind these pages and feel they can say anything, when in real life they wouldn’t utter a word. Thankfully this site feels like the only place I can peruse without shaking my head.

FC Midtjylland are decent opposition mate see they play Besiktas mid week in a Europa Qualifier game

Aye, they had 3 players at this World Cup, who are unlikely to play, plus Philip Billing who was excellent for Bournemouth in the PL. Still only 30.
