I'm not taking anything for granted, I prefer to take each match as it comes. Can we continue to play as we are atm? I'd like to think so, but we're Villa, we don't tend to do things the easy way.

I can't see us not going up automatically from this position , given the way we are playing now.
Dont put the mockers on it sirdennis

I'm still buzzing after Sunday's performance. Never have I seen such free flowing football in a local derby.

This league reminds me of the old first division and shows how money has ruined football.

There's a lot to like about the Championship, maybe because a lot of the clubs were in the old first division.

Go up or not (and I think we've a good chance), performances like that are what makes the game. I think you have to go back 20 years to see us put in performances like that. That's what we've been missing.

Agree with everything said here. I’m still a pessimistic bugger though. Isn’t that the Brummie way?

I really hope we go up automatically, but don't want us to end up as cannon fodder next season. Chairman Xia and Wyness really need to be working on a strategy that gives us sufficient clout in the transfer market in readiness.
Nobody we really want from the Albion though is there :17:

Anyhow from China Xin nian kuai le and Gong xi fa cai.

Gong Xi Fa Cai, Zaijian.

We have a few influential players on loan that we'll need in the PL. Johnstone and Snoddy being the most influential.

The real trick will be getting a striker who can do the business for us in the PL.

Maybe it would be better to just concentrate on every game as it comes as there are a bucket load of points to play for and at least 4 teams jockeying for automatic promotion. It's fantastic that we have won 7 on the trot but let's not forget the other teams around us that we haven't pulled away from yet , they win matches and score goals as well. Stay focused , let's not get carried away now. :192:

Two of the most entertaining and successful periods in my time as a Villa fan came as a result of the momentum gained during promotion pushes from the 2nd tier. You expected goals and excitement from both Sir Ron's and Sir Graham's teams.

Unfortunately for us, should we continue this run, the money needed to breach the gulf will probably not allow us to use this season as a platform for anything other than a relegation battle. Unfortunately, to be the best of the also rans does little to inspire or enthuse either potential new young fans or cynical old gits. like me.

I wouldn't swap my 1970's wide eyed 10 year old for a modern day technological version :21:

What I'd really like to see is for us to finish the season all guns blazing, attacking, exciting, adventurous. High on the self belief and ability (like Little and Gray, and Platt and Daley) that Grealish is starting to show.

F**k the Premier League for now, give us some memories to cherish like those we have from previous rises from the depths.

PS. I know Gray wasn't part of a promotion push but the momentum we gained created a platform for his signing and success. I often wondered how different things may have been had Kieth Leonard not been lost to injury.

I'm not getting carried away , the Blues game was the best we've played for a whole 90 mins since Bruce arrived without a doubt .
There's still room for improvement, I still don't like watching Hogan chasing round on his own like a headless chicken , Johnstone punting it up to him everytime we get closed down .
Scott will score goals but not from punts , we need to get it down and play everything through Jack and Albert .
All in all it's working out well but lets not get complacent until we are 4 points clear with a game to go .

Do Fulham down there and I might start to believe it's going to happen

The Championship doesn't reward mediocrity, you have to play well and consistently to get anything.
The Premier League is the opposite, you are rewarded with millions for being bang average.
