I still wonder why some people (look at the % of their vote) voted Tory, but I haven't harped on about it for months and months, I just put up with it because that is democracy! lol

In five years you can vote them out, if the result of this referendum is pushed through, those on the other side wont get a chance to vote to rejoin in five years.

Referendums matter more than general elections, so the comparison you made simply does not hold water.

I tried to vote them out last time, and the time before... lol

Unless anyone on this board is part of the negotiating team, there is eff all that anyone can do about it.

The die is cast and the vote is over.
.

No it is not - the terms have yet to be agreed so we may find the UK becomes a special partner to the EU in a similar way to being a full member.

We will have so much uncertainty over the next 2 years which will not be good for the UK and yes we will all suffer (some already have) the country will back being a special partner to the EU

"the terms have yet to be agreed so we may find the UK becomes a special partner to the EU in a similar way to being a full member."

^This is where I think we'll be when the dust settles - an associate member or similar title, how about associate partner, can't really be a 'member' I suppose as we will have left. There will be restrictions on immigration, but EU citizens will still be shown some form of preference, maybe they will be granted automatic entry if they have a job offer & are free of criminal convictions or perhaps there will be a numerical limit on access. Anyone who moved here from the EU before the referendum (& quite likely until we we technically leave) will be given right to remain. I don't think there's any genuine appetite to make trade more difficult on either side, so we will proceed with arrangements very close to what we currently have. Less change means a deal can be had relatively quickly, although it will probably take over 2 years, a speedy deal is in the interests of both parties as the uncertainty will hurt both sides economically, though not by nearly as much as some of the remain scarmongers claimed Right now the main figures are jostling for starting positions & the talk is emotive (especially that incompetent piss-head Junker), but things will surely settle down.

I think the penny is finally staring to drop with the EU, they're staring to realise that without proper reform their future existence is under threat, & none of them want to lose their place on that corrupt gravy train, maybe they will finally start sorting themselves out & perhaps even serve the people of Europe better. One thing is certain - if they don't arrest their decline they won't around long enough for us to conclude negotiations wih them. The main European leaders are clearly frustrated with the EU. Ten years from now citizens of Europe, even the garlic stinking froggies, may well thank us for being the catalyst for change.

Message to the Brexiteers: you are no longer the insurgents, you won. You may complain about negative criticism of the process, or lack of it, our prospects and a whole lot else but it comes with the territory. I stopped debating Brexit on 23rd June and await some coherent strategy, or thinking from the three jokers (my personal opinion of them). So far we are no further on from 23rd June and the responsibility for that is entirely with this governemnt. It is worth noting that the out camp in tyhe tory party has pretty well been put in charge of things so there really is no one else to blame.

I think the pig-botherer Dodgy Dave should take some responsibility for the governments lack of readiness for Brexit. He was so arrogantly confident of winning that he would not countenance any other outcome.
Expect him now to "out-Blair" Blair in his quest for money and influence

It not a case of not being prepared its a more about taking your time and getting it right.

The government and many businesses many contingency plans just in case which why many prices have yet to rise but after 12mths it will be a different case, already being scaled back are projects which rely on European funding - we are still in the honeymoon period and will be until next summer

I distinctly remember you saying that should the vote be to leave the EU, you were expecting to make staff redundant the next day Durhamgills.

How many have you had to let go so far and how is business affected?

I've got to admit that I've noticed no difference, I'm as busy as ever, but then I don't trade abroad.

Blimey, 6 pages of Brexit speculation and comment on other peoples speculation! What is it going to be like when we do actually sign on the dotted line and all the threats, speculation and promises are put to the test in real time. I guess there will either be 51% or 49% of people saying 'I told you so!'

31 have gone to date - 20 more under consultation - will to be close to 100 by year end. Expansion plans in other parts of the country are on hold until 2018

Durham -did you make the jobs redundant of the people you let go, or was it a case of getting rid of people you did not want to employ anymore. From my experience of being made redundant, it is the job and not he employee that is redundant.

Jobs - who goes is on a strict scoring system
