X Factor hopeful Scarlett Lee, who confused fans with her ‘orange make-up’ has blamed her overly tanned look on camerawork from the show’s producers.

Now through to boot camp, after singing Andra Day’s Rise Up for the judges, viewers quickly took to social media to comment on her make-up.

‘The camera made me look really orange and made me look like I had really bad fake tan on,’ she said. ‘People were like you need to cut down on the tan, but it was just bad foundation. Trust me! I really didn’t have tan on.

‘I looked like I was rolled into Wotsits or something but it wasn’t fake tan.’
