I Didn’t Want Pep – Send Him Back To Spain!

Manchester City hosted Southampton in front of 53,731 quiet, disgruntled and frustrated Blues yesterday and so what’s going wrong and why are some fans losing patience with Pep Guardiola and his style of play?

Is your patience beginning to run thin?

Please watch the vids and read the article before you give me 'both barrels'. Like the article says...

The above is not the current thinking of the person writing this article, however, why hide or distort what is being said.

I wonder if it is the constant changes in the team that is causing the problems, instead of having a settled team, often we find 3/4 changes and then a change of tactics, 3 at the back 4 at the back, the system works and here again the problems lies is that players will take time to learn and then learn to change week in week out what those changes will be.

I love Pep and already he has changed the way City play for the better, he is not always right, but in the majority of times he is.

I'd defy any City fan that watched that game yesterday not to have been left feeling frustrated, so I get the emotion attached to some of the comments.

However, we, the club, has spent the past four years setting ourselves up for the arrival of Guardiola. Everything has been geared towards getting the best system in place for Pep to come in and build something that will put is in good stead for years to come. It would be absurd to suggest scrapping it all at the first sign of trouble.

I think we all including pep recognised we had an awful first half, but they did try to put it right ion the second, but i agree, in 9 matches in the premier we have lost only one and still top the tree and yet there is a perceived crisis - In the tradition of Pantos 'Oh No There Isn't'

I know we all get disappointed when we get a good thrashing, but yesterday, had Aguero not attempted to head the ball, Had stones booted the ball up field, had the team played the whole game like they did in the 2nd half, lots of if and buts, but that is football.

Look at what happened to the Media's favourites yesterday and count yourself lucky that we have Pep and they have the special one.

Pep has no magic wand but he has the worlds greatest pedigree and from what I have seen I like it.

That's the problem when you play the pep way. 80% of our possession is between the back 4 and that other useless prat goal keeper we've got. We don't have the players to play this game. But until we draw or lose some more game everyone thinks pep is some kind of managerial god who can't make mistakes...

That young man in the video clip is entitled to his opinion, but I don't think we play pansy football, but we do need to be more direct and use our wingers more and get them to stay wide to receive the ball. With our playing schedule we have no choice but to use our squad, I have no issue with picking a team to match up with our opponents for any given game. :080:

It's posts like this that get on my nerves, just randomly making up a percentage to try emphasise a point, I blame Sky.

I can see why but it's his opinion, I think it's silly but each to their own.

It's the making shit up that grinds my gears.

It seems that it's only at City that part of the fan-base could be up in arms and wanting the manager out when we've played 9 games and are sitting top of the league.
Patience it seems, is no longer a virtue. Fortunately, the club has shown some in waiting several years to bring Pep here, and by backing him in his decisions and the transfer market. Some of the football we're playing is an absolute joy to watch. The first 45 yesterday was very poor, but that's been the exception rather than the rule so far this season. The 'poor' results recently have mainly been the result of individual cock-ups that no manager or system can legislate for. I can only see a bright blue future :045:

Blimey it seems I've missed a thing or two whilst shifting everything around at home ready for the carpet fitters!

What short memories some folks have. I can understand frustration - trust me I was going a bit bonkers yesterday in the first half as we played without enough tempo or bite - but goodness me it is early days. I can only recommend taking the time to read some books on Guardiola to understand the guy. Pep Confidential is one & it has helped me appreciate what he is trying to do. I am still on board the Pep train :026:

It's the usual "I want it, and I want it now" mindset of the younger element. No patience and unable to comprehend the bigger picture.

That's usually the case, but the evidence displayed in one of the videos doesn't point to that? :048:

Indeed, the bloke moaning was an old duffer, must have been around Buzz Lightyear's age :089:

I expected this as soon as we hit a bad spot. It's utter nonsense. This - signing Pep - is perhaps the most extraordinary thing to happen to our oft-benighted club in its lifetime. It's all that Mansour has worked towards, and it has come to be.

All that matters now is that the players buy into Pep (you too Sergio - no-one is irreplaceable), that we continue to line up more and more young world class players (as per Gabriel Jesus) and that Pep works hand-in-hand with the academy, unlike Roberto and Manny). Of course I hope we win the league this season, but the main thing as that we progress Pepwards.

On the footballing side, to expect a seamless and leak free rendering of Pep's own brand of Total Football this season is nonsense. That we have seen so much good stuff already shows that we have the attacking players to slot pretty much straight into this; those behind - Fernandinho and the defenders are in reality having to play a far more changed game than David S & co.; it has to be expected that it won't work all the time, that more mistakes that we wouldn't expect (as per y'say) will happen whilst it all beds in. I will however apologise for yesterdays Stones' error - I switched te radio on 5 seconds before it happened (on the plus side, my wife and I got three Bangla Desh wickets in the morning by leaving the room - an old ploy of my late Mum's!)

In meantime, what is clear is that Pep is in charge in a way that no preceding managers at the club under the Mansour era. I gather this was part of the deal from his point of view, when negotiating.
Please let's make sure that he knows that he is more than welcome here, and that we are behind him 100%.
