It was another home win for the Swans on Tuesday night, making it 6 wins from 12 league games with Vitor Matos in charge, Home P7 W5 D1 L1 Away P5 W1 D0 L4.

Our season overall reveals a 47% win record at home and a 23% win record away from home. The 16 games under Sheehan were costly, only our home record under Matos boosting the stats.

Our aim should now be reproducing our home form in away matches, which moves us on to the matches at Hull on Saturday and at Watford a week later.

First up a really tough one up on the East Yorkshire coast and the long journey from Swansea (564 miles/10 hour round trip) to Hull.

Hull the port city of Pattie and Chips, Fish and Chips and Yorkshire Curd Tart and the home of Aunt Bessie’s Yorkshire Pudding.

Hull are flying at the moment and are 4th in the table, 11 points ahead of us.

Their last 6 matches W4 D1 L1 F9 A4 (the one defeat was 0-1 at home to Stoke)

Their last 6 home matches W3 D0 L3 F7 A9 (the other two home defeats besides Stoke were 0-2 against Ipswich and 1-4 against Middlesbrough).

On Tuesday night they won 0-3 at 6th placed Preston, ex-Swan Ollie McBurnie scoring the third goal and an assist for the second.

McBurnie is third with ten goals in the Championship top scorers list behind Adam Armstrong 11 and the top scorer our very own Zan Vipotnik on 13.

The reverse fixture last September was a 2-2 draw, Hull equalising in the 97th minute.

The dull Cabango blatantly sticks his arm out in front of the ref as the ball comes in to the box from a free kick, what on earth was he thinking.
A goal gifted to Hull.

28’ Unbelievable, Vipotnik misses an open goal from a few yards out when it was easier to score.

35’ Vipotnik toe-pokes the ball wide again from a Tymon cross, another chance gone begging.

43’ Swans at sixes and sevens now, Hull over them. Miller unmarked shoots from just outside the area, Vigouroux tips the ball over the bar for a corner.

Game being thrown away, Cabango’ s brainless hand ball, Vipotnik’s two unbelievable misses and our schoolboy defending could have made it even worse.

46’ All the pressure from Swansea now but they’re reluctant to shoot or shots blocked. Two corners in succession come to nothing. Did they have a rocket from Matos at half-time.

Hull so lucky to win this in the end. Swans all over them second-half but just couldn’t score. The two misses by Vipotnik very costly as well as poor defending

Wasn’t able to watch it but going to take the positives from the amount of chances we’re creating. If we stay up and recruit well in the summer, it could be a decent season next year. Quite like this style of play.

How we didn’t win that I don’t know.

First half two shocking misses of an open goal by Vipotnik. Cabango had a moment of madness and diverted a cross with his left arm right out in front of the ref to gift them a goal. A completely unmarked Slater volleys in from 30 yards with Vigouroux caught napping. Then an onslaught on our goal late first half but we held out.

Second half we were unstoppable and dominated for the most part, just couldn’t score more than the one goal, a fine header by Cullen.

How many times have we lost and deserved a draw or a win away from home this season, so many.

Yet we have to face the stark facts that it’s now 9 defeats from 14 away games, 7 away defeats from the last 8 games, with 7 goals scored and 15 conceded, one of the worst away records in the Championship and relegation form, we look so vulnerable in defence when under pressure. Only our home form saving us from the bottom three.

Unlucky doesn’t count, only points on the board.

We've got to find ways to get points on the road. The performance was there but we shot ourselves in the foot in the first half.

I've no idea what Cabango was doing. A shocker of a hand ball and one of the most blatant you'll ever see.

That combined with Vipotnik's misses in front of goal and it was never going to be our day.

I was very encouraged by our 2nd half dominance and fight back but we should never have put ourselves in that position in the first place.

Plenty to work and build on and hopefully we can get it sorted for next season. This is a good opportunity now for Matos to figure out his squad for the new season.
 
I said yesterday “Only three minutes added time, no way!”
There were actually four minutes added time officially, but with ten substitutions and player injury time stoppage to add on yesterday. The subs alone would have been at least five minutes at 30 seconds each sub, plus injury time.
That time was important because we had them penned in their half and they were hanging on at the end.
Water under the bridge now, but here are the guidelines:
  • Substitutions: Generally, officials allow 30 seconds per substitution as a guideline to be added to the end of the half. However, referees are instructed to use the actual time lost, so if a substitution takes longer, more time should be added.
 
You’re right:
If three substitutions come on together, they generally count as one stoppage window (30 seconds total), not 30 seconds each, provided they occur at the same time.
Two came on together for Hull on 56’
Three came on together for Swans 66’
According to the Football Association, time is added on for all of the following: Substitutions. Assessment of injured players. Removal of injured players. Time wasting. Disciplinary sanctions being issued. Any medical stoppages allowed by the rules, such as those for a drinks break Any delays added for VAR checks.
