Hull v Swans

Away Jacks face the third longest trip of the season, after Boro and Norwich, this Saturday.
A round trip of 572 miles awaits them and an early evening kick of at 5:30.
It’s live on Sky which will stop a lot of fans going. Unfortunately I am one of those not going, having done it twice in the PL, but I will watch it in my armchair with a pint instead.

It’s the first of four games in ten days, after Hull there’s Villa at home on Boxing Day then Wigan at home the following Saturday, then Tuesday 1st Jan, Reading away.
Phew, what a tough schedule.

Form Guide:
Hull one defeat in the last six matches
Swans three defeats in the last six matches
Hull W2 D3 L1 F10 A9
Swans W3 D0 L3 F9 A11

Hull have moved up to 17th position of 24 in the league after a mini revival of fortunes lately, culminating in a 2-0 win over Brentford last Saturday.
On the 2nd of October they were one point adrift at the bottom of the table after losing at Sheff Utd to a penalty goal, and manager Nigel Adkins’ job was on the line.
Since then their results have been mostly good -
Millwall 2 - Hull 2
QPR 2 - Hull 3
Hull 0 - Norwich 0 (Norwich had 6 straight wins before this match)
Hull 0 - N Forest 2
Brum 3 - Hull 3
Hull 1 - WBA 0
Bolton 0 - Hull1
B City 1 - Hull 0

Good news that Dan James is back in training and available again after missing two matches with a hamstring injury.
Rumours of Rodgers and Celtic interested in Bony as the January transfer window is almost upon us.
With our hedge fund owners desperate to sell anything of any value, this will be welcome news to them.

Our much maligned owners are splashing out the cash. No, it’s not on new players. They’ve chartered a plane to fly the team up to Humberside on Friday afternoon, in preparation for the Hull match, and also to return late Saturday night after the match.

Spare a thought for our brave fans going up on the away travel buses. Departing Swansea at 08:30 on Saturday for the 17:30 kick off, they will not arrive home until the early hours of Sunday morning after travelling almost 600 miles.

Dan James, born in Yorkshire, returns to Hull today for the first time since he left their Academy for ours in 2014 for a meagre £72,000.
Since then he has come up through the ranks to the first team and thanks to his father, who was born in Aberdare, has since been capped for Wales.

Ex-Swan Stephen Kingsley will play against us today after returning from injury last week. He was part of Jenkins’ disastrous package that brought Hull’s Sam “clueless” Clucas to us for a mind boggling £16m and Kingsley going the other way for £3m.

Fourth match thrown away this season after taking the lead and then missing countless chances to score and close the game
A feeble second half defensive display, only VdH can hold his head up.
Two passengers this afternoon, the inept McKay and the useless John, but they keep on getting picked.
Why do we continue with zonal marking when it doesn’t work and why does Potter wait until we’re losing before changing things.
A pathetic capitulation when it should have been an away win.
Thank god we’re not going up this season as this weak side would have been embarrassed every game.

Statistics show that over the last six games we’ve gone from having one of the best defences in this division and on par with Middlesboro, at the beginning of the season, to now being the worst with 14 goals conceded, on par with Rotherham.
What’s gone wrong?

Fer v Elphick in the box as the cross comes over.
Both big players, both 6’2”, both capable headers of the ball.
Both jump up to head the ball, one has no energy and hardly gets off the ground, the other leaps up and above him to guide the ball into the net - goal.
Fer is a liability in the defensive half, his forte is as an attacking midfielder, definitely not defensive midfielder, and definitely not one of his best days in a Swansea shirt yesterday.
