HS2 Still Dragging Heels Over Bodymoor Heath

Pride of Lions

I am now official
I may of missed this, but it appears that Bodymoor Heath is in the middle of the HS2 route. This will effect the club as far as the training facilities for all concerned with Aston Villa.

The club had a meeting this week with the Rail Minister Paul Maynard to sort out were we stand regarding this matter.

As fans will know the HS2 project will wipe out a section of our Bodymoor Heath training base but despite lodging our fair request for compensation last year, a deal is yet to be done.

Wouldn't say dragging their heels. These things take time to sort out. I doubt if the request for compensation is more than a marker to raise the issue.

It's pretty obvious the club will have to move. A new site needs to be identified, together with planning permission, costs of building and moving worked out, and compensation for any related issues agreed.

What matters is that once serious work starts on HS2 then work on the new academy and training ground is well under way.
