How wrong was I

I feel the same.

Done well at Fulham but not elsewhere. Feels like it clicks ok at Fulham but maybe not something he can replicate anywhere else?

Hit a plateau with Fulham. Partly that is revenue and signings. Their first season back in the PL was very good, but they haven't really improved from that.
I was not remotely excited by Silva when we were linked with him in the same breath as Glasner and Iraola.

But now he feels like the fucking holy grail, it's that bad.

I'd love a Forest win. Don't care who the manager is as long as we're playing well and winning games. If that's Ange then bloody brilliant because he's already in the job. If he can kick on tomorrow and prove us all wrong then that would be the best thing for absolutely everyone involved.
The only way we come out of this looking like anything other than a circus club is if Ange somehow turns it all round and lasts at least a season.

I don't want the guy here but I'm desperate for him to win and desperate for us not to lurch back into the kind of club that gets through 3 managers a year.

You know what, if we change Ange and the new guy does well, everyone will say it was the right move and it was a brave decision to correct the mistake quickly and decisively.

If the new guy does just as badly, we'll be getting what we deserve and blah blah blah.

It's pretty much business as usual. The narrative will be determined by success on the pitch.

I can’t watch on Sunday against Newcastle, I just can’t.

He got lucky with spurs in the Europa cup because they were playing Manchester United. Need I say more?

I worry that the players either don’t understand what is being asked of them or they are incapable of executing Anges plan. Either way it’s not a good look for Ange.

Agree, however the million dollar question is ....

Who is that new guy 'going to be'. I like Dyche, but not sure I want him to be our manager. Silva seems the only logical move for us. I think ....

Or Glasner. He’s lost Eze and yet remains competitive

Yes, they do understand what is being asked of them

But I don't think they understand how that then translates into what they should do in different situations and phases of play, and I don't think they are getting much guidance on that

The article posted yesterday raised huge alarm bells with me- where it said "Postecoglou likes his players to find their own solutions".

Under Nuno we were ultra disciplined, with little positional triangles. Pretty much any phase of play or situation was planned for and the players seemed very tactically astute

I think they understand the basics of inverting the fullbacks into midfield (or whatever it is), high line, passing out the back, etc- the generalities. But I think a lot more is being left to them, they aren't finding the solutions and then are getting the implicit blame for it from the manager
Thank you for your input which confirms my original concerns. I guess the real question is can Ange repair this? Concerns were expressed when Nuno took over, but these were partially dispelled when we beat Man U. I don’t have any confidence that Ange can turn this around. Zilch, Nada, Nothing. I would be amazed if Ange sees the season out, but if he does strangely enthused. If no progress has been made then Marinakis will press the ejection button. If that hasn’t happened then Ange will have made progress.
I’m not overly optimistic that, that will come to pass, but we live in hope.

Reflecting on last night, I think one thing that stands out is how few players actually played badly, in my opinion

Who was shit?

Sels had a bad game, 100%.

We can say the defence - Murillo was poor while he was on. Milenkovic was very poor. But Morato? I didn't think he had a noticeably bad game.

Neco? Played fine. Savona? I really didn't see what was supposed to be wrong with him.

Sangare had a good game, with the exception of two occasions I noticed him letting people by.

MGW? Absolutely fine game

Anderson? Absolutely brilliant.

CHO? Did well, the only one getting crosses in, taking people on

Ndoye? Looked far more physical, and scored.

Jesus? Physical, involved himself, but no real service

Wood? Looked the best I've seen him for a while. Alive to throughballs.

There is no doubt in my mind that we as a team played very badly, but that is quite baffling when I am struggling to pin point the players who played badly.

If players aren't individually putting in bad performances (and that is my opinion) but the team is playing shit, that's system and instructions.
Ange is the anti clough. Clough took ordinary players and made them world beaters. We didn’t have better players than Liverpool but we had the better team. Ange is the exact opposite of that.

I’m not having Sean Dyche managing Nottingham Forest. No fucking way.

I think we’d do better with Lewis Grabban in charge

Still hoping (not necessarily hopeful) that Ange can turn it around but such was the vitriol aimed at him on Thursday night it’s hard to see how he wins the majority of the fanbase back.

Given the circumstances of his arrival he needed a few wins just to settle the apprehension of the fans but sadly the opposite has happened. I still maintain individual errors defensively and profligate finishing in attack has been the cause of the results as opposed to tactics.

Forgetting the Arsenal game, which you really can’t attribute to Ange we’ve been the better team on metrics such as possession, chances created, shots on target etc, everything bar the critical stat of points gained. Yet, poor finishing, defensive lapses and more than a sprinkle of bad luck has seen us winless under his charge.

Interesting one tonight, this is the only game out of the last 5 (4 possibly with Betis) where we’re not the favourites to win. Newcastle will not be defending as deep and with the numbers of Sunderland, Midtjylland and Burnley so perhaps this is a game better suited to our new approach.

Another loss and you feel the end is near for Ange, a draw under any other circumstances would be considered a fine result but still may not be enough. A win and you just never know, the confidence and belief would be given a big boost and it could be the launchpad for a few more 3 pointers in upcoming games.

It's a free hit for Ange today as no one is expecting anything other than a total humiliation and defeat today won't help his cause but it won't get him the sack either. Looking at the remaining fixtures in October I can't see a single win and that will be the end of him. He won't see November 1st as Forest manager. If he does I'll happily admit that I called it wrong.

A bad result today and I think he goes IF a good replacement can be in place over the international break. The only thing that might help him out is a lack of suitable candidates to take over.

That’s a sad indictment of the situation the club has got itself into but absolutely correct if the result today is as most of us expect then EM has to swallow his pride admit his mistake & act decisively if a suitable replacement can’t be found d amongst the ranks of the unemployed then he will have to pay the comp to get his man out of his current club after all he must have saved a bit with Nuno going back into work so quickly. Admittedly he’ll have to pay this clown off but will have to be done.

Seriously I'll be surprised if today's result is his downfall I think we'll have to wait just a little bit longer.

I posted earlier this week that Postecoglou was 2nd in the list of bookies' favourites to be next manager sacked, behind Amorim. In fact, he is now first. I have heard that it would be extremely expensive to sack Amorim in October as opposed to November, so that might be part of it. But nevertheless, the fact that a new manager is assessed by those with financial interests in this is in such a poor position so quickly must be close to unprecedented.
