How much does xmas cost you?

DeanoVilla

One Bloody Number
What do you reckon?

For the full shabang... presents, tree, decorations, cards, food, drink.

I just sat and worked it out.... feinted... and then thought I'd post this. Crazy really. Just for one day, celebrating a magic kid I don't even believe in.

:81:

€1,500+ but we have flights, travel home to Scotland, meals/nights out to consider. Not a single day for us though, we celebrate for nearly two weeks (until January 2nd). Time with our family is precious with us living abroad.

No idea, I just close my eyes and hope.

But I guessed at between £750 and £1000

Think I probably come in under £250 now as I don't really do much, don't decorate, presents are only mom / dad / nephew / niece / Rev's two kids / Buddy Man...

No longer send out cards, can't really count the donation I made to a homeless charity (partly because of not doing cards!) I don't think!

Meal out Xmas day £50 ish I think

For me it's a rat trap but unlike Billy, I've not been caught.

We always talk about spending less but end up spending anything from £400 to £600 on presents pluss the other bits and bobs that really mount up.

This year it will be even more at we decided to buy new matresses for ourselves (not an exciting but a very welcome change) which has us at about £350 and then one of the boys will get a bit more spent on him this time around as it'll be a combined gift with his birthday (ok, so this includes birthday budget but that's still money spent now at Christmas) so his present alone is between £200 og £250 pluss andother £100 to £150 on the other boys taking our spend just on gifts to at least £750 before we even think about other family memebers like parents and a few others. This year I expect we'll clear thr £1000 mark when we include all the extras.

Too much! That said, probbably not that much compaired to many Norwegians, some seem to buy new PCs and the like for every birthday and Christmas.

Mines well over a grand. Ouchie!

Nat = £150
Kids x 3 = £400
Moms x 2 (Mine and Nats) = £80
Siblings x 5 (Mone and Nats) = £140
Niece (x2) and Nephew = £60
Dad = £30
God Children x 6 = £100
Friends = £115
Food & Drink = £150
Tree = £52
Decorations & Lights = £30

£1307

Fuck an actual DUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Makes me want to cry.

£5 more than it was going to be after last night.

I've gone early and cracked open the tin of quality street that was under the tree.

Gonna have to replace like for like before the rest of the melons realize.

£1500 plus also. That includes the whole of December, nights out, usual trips to see family, my brothers and Grandson, my older lads grown up dinner we do with there friends and other halves. New Year traveling to David family. 2 parcels to send abroad with my youngest and daughter living abroad. Presents wise thee is my 4, there other half's, Mr KK and his family, our Grandson and a n others plus various. Then there food

Hence why I start again in January in the sales for cards and wrapping paper and do it through the year, monthly with my budget set aside each month for. Nov and Dec are my months off. Even the food shopping booked online now with Morrisons. £30-£40 a week away just about covers it. Wouldn't beable to do it otherwise without debt. We don't get into debt for it

I've not even included nights out in mine.

Plus I have the added 'bonus' of Nat's birthday on the 22nd!

it's a good job I worked about 200 hours last month!!!

Well being as lucky as i am i know have a third kid whose birthday is in december 8th, 19th, 20th ffs lol this is gonna be a killer when they get older over the coming years GULP,

I would say we have spent throughout the year as we save and get the kids presents in all year round in advance about £1000 and thats the lot, i don't buy mom and dad presents they don't want them lol we just all buy the kids and save wasting presents money on each other, i will let the Mrs go buy some clothes etc whatever women buy next week as usual thats her prezzie lol, my life is all about my kids tbh money wise.

Your in the over £1500 club then Deano :14:

I have just been able to buy a top quality Turkey for £9 down from £35. It was a thank you from musclefood.com for spending so much through the year. Also two ham joints for one at £15 down from £20 but not counting that as xmas, it is just more protein for when I'm hopefully back in the gym in Jan.

Christmas Day meal for £50 = bargain.

I immediately thought of McDonalds.

Think it is about £50, I could be wrong. Will have to ask parents, they've booked, I'll no doubt pay! It's a nice pub in Alvechurch and they do it well but if I had my way, I'd just be at home doing nothing. However, nice to be nice to the old dears after the years of lovely Xmas's I had as a kid.

The whole thing bores me to tears and I could have 3 decent Sunday lunches in Stratford for this cost!

I thought it was great day at one time - when everything used to close for the day, hardly any traffic on the roads and what was out and about we used to wave at each other. The awe of silence, peace, a perfect day of rest and respect. Where everything grinds down to a standstill.

Anyway I've put 500-750, although I have never costed it, with it just being a pure guess.

It tends to be around £500, although depending on whether we're having family here or going to parents, etc, might add another £200 to the food & drink bill.

Which is why we go elsewhere if poss! I'm happy enough staying at home and shutting up shop as it were. I agree - the days where you could go for a walk and bump into a handful of people and no traffic were great.

Now, it's no different to every other day of the year. Shame really.
