Just read Warnock's interview after the Boro /Wednesday game and he makes a comment that there will be a number of clubs with a points deduction next season.Who is this likely to be and is there any possibility we could be one?
It is hard to take Warnock seriously on any subject never mind financial affairs, but it is safe to assume we will not be one of the Clubs who suffer from a points deduction.
According to the rules, as they stand, we could lose more than we did last season and still be within the parameters of P & S; the Chairman indicated in his recent interview that would not be the case.
If you go through the previous accounts you can clearly see why the losses have risen in the last two years; the increase in paying off players who were no longer wanted resulted in a jump in wages paid, together with the associated amortisation costs, and you have the bulk of the losses covered.
There are also clear indications why the losses will not be repeated in the next or future accounts.
The size of the squad, which grew due to the constant changing of managers, is now down to manageable levels - once the loans go back and the players who have contracts ending in June have gone, we are down to a squad of 19 players plus the youngsters.
That squad of 19 includes Ioannou, Carvalho and Da Costa, who will surely be on their bikes, and the likes of Bachirou, Jenkinson and Arter who should also be leaving.
If you look ahead 12 months we also have another 8 players with contracts running out.
The only fly in the ointment will be income once the lockdown is over; it will be difficult to gauge how many supporters return to the Club, and what impact that has on attendances.
