How Fat Are You?

Hey fatty, I was just reading an article in The Guardian about how fat British people are. 67% of you fatty-fat-fat-fats are overweight or obese. So they say anyway. Personally, I always find those stats a bit high. So I was thinking we should have a poll to see how fat your ass is. If you aren't sure about your BMI, you can check it out here: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/obesity/BMI/bmi-m.htm

Me? I'm 24.6. A little too close to obese than I'd like but a few 10km runs will sort that out.

Juan, yes, we all know BMI isn't perfect but it will do for this.

I bought a body fat monitor and it`s got me as 19.5 body fat % and 22.8 body mass index, which on both accounts is classed as "Normal",so no fatty fat fats here !

Overweight which I know and dealing with. Used to be very underweight back at the beginning of the millennium as I ran on coffee, cigs and alcohol with all going on.

Look a hell of alot healthier today. Nothing good about being underweight either, however now is the time to shift the pounds and keep it off

I guess im lucky as my weight is normal. I tend to eat healthy and enjoy good fresh natural(as possible) foods. I dont smoke, I dont do drugs and I lead a life with no/very little stress, my vices are alcohol and that I dont really exercise at all.

BMI is a bit of a bullshit measure really, it doesn't take into account lean muscle or fat, just height and weight.

You could be 15 stone or pure muscle and this would put you as obese.

Can't remember if it was Juan or his predecessor who loved this measurement not a lot!

As you mention it Mr Fear. How do you measure yourself (fat I hasten to add)? I have a pair of scales that does all this but I know they are less than perfect. At least it gives me a baseline to work from as I'm assuming that it will stay consistently incorrect.

At the moment it says that I am 29.1 which is high. But I am doing something about it!

I rarely do now because I'm sort of round and abouts where I want to be, or at least not over where I want to be (some fat to come off still and more muscle to go on)

But I use a body fat monitor and every now and then I step on the scales out of interest.

For me, it is look and feel mostly, I know I fit in my jeans fine and actually some are 30" these days, so don't really worry about measurements.

As for the other... with a magnifying glass! :3:

hand held body fat monitor btw, happy to put a link in if wanted, did one the other day but forget which thread!

The one through the feet I think Juan said isn't as accurate. Possibly gives you a rough idea though?

Weight Loss Thread Page 147.

Cheshire, thinking about it, I think it was in the weight loss thread, page 147 if I recall correctly!

:17: :17:

Must admit, was only saying to mom today, I'd nipped her out for a coffee at the local redditch muffin break, I do treat my parents well (!) how obesity seems to be the norm now.

So many big people up there, never used to be that many, the western diet, lack of education, laziness etc.

The authorities aren't willing to do much about it either, the medical profession make money out of the drugs and the politicians out of the food industry.

The food industry makes a fortune making people fat, the same industry then make a fortune out of weight loss products that help compound the problem and make them even more.

Happy days.

I think you put it in the weight loss thread. Probably page 147.

I work from home when I'm not on the road and go to Costa with the laptop for the occasional coffee. I only have black coffee. But the number of people in there with a full fat, full sugar drink and a pastry or two are in the majority.

It's a shame and a worry, only going to get worse as fat parents are bringing up even fatter kids.

People, don't seem to want to help themselves though.

I am just over the overweight and classed as obese, feck me glad i lost two stone in the past six months i would probably have crashed the fatty ''o'' meter, i tend to prefer my own tables, either Fat, Fatty, thin as a rake skinny fecker or you fat barstool,

Yes very worrying , and it puts extra strain on the NHS because of related health problems.

One of my wifes friends was warned a while back to change here eating habits or else she would be come diabetic. Guess what she didn't and now she is.

Very hard to have any sympathy for her.

Very, very hard mate. In fact, for me, I possible to feel any sympathy. There is nothing I've not and wouldn't try for better health and yet people seem happy to toss theirs away. Bit baffling.
