Ipshit Town's trip to Horwich on Saturday is in serious doubt after the home side were denied a safety certificate for the stadium to host the match.
Bolton have faced financial troubles all season and earlier this week players went on strike having not been paid their March wages.
In a statement Ipswich Town wrote: "The EFL has today been informed that the Safety Advisory Group (SAG), responsible for issuing the general safety certificate at Bolton Wanderers, has placed a prohibition notice on the Club under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.
