Home and Away comparison

I was right about one thing before Lovell got the job I said we would get more points away than at home this season .Everyone I told including Peter Lloyd thought I was mad .

Just because you get something right for once, doesn't prove your sanity... ;-)

I wonder how much the Priestfield pitch influence this. Is out style of football better away from home on better pitches.

Plenty of away managers have commented on the state of our pitch so maybe there is something in it.

Pleased for all the fans who spend good money following the club away from home. Four wins is scant reward for the long suffering home fans though.

When Blackpool were making us look so poor by playing the ball around us with such ease, I thought they were on the same pitch as us?
Playing and training on a crap pitch week in and week out should provide home advantage.

I've been telling you about our pitch all season and was constantly shot down.
It look ok form the stands but have you ever been on it ? it's dreadful
It needs digging up and the drainage done properly again else we will have another poor home record next year- particularly if you get all these 'creative stars' in on the inflated phantom budget everyone thinks we have

I think most people agreed the pitch was poor. I certainly do.

You won’t always get people agreeing with you but less of the sob stories about being shot down please.

yes I know that Nibbles that's the whole point of debates and forums -they are opinions. Its not a sob story don't worry it won't break my heart if you don't agree lol

Think we all agree the pitch is poor, the two problems are firstly it'd cost probably £250-300k to relay the pitch and sort the drainage (Rochdale paid about £120k just to have the top 're-turfed), that's money we just don't have and secondly as poor as our pitch appears to be, it hasn't stopped other teams playing some decent football on it.

If the pitch is so poor, given that we play on it 23 times in a season and everyone else in out league only plays on it once, you would have thought that this would be an advantage to us rather than a hindrance.

Why is it other teams can adapt to it but we can't?.......

Other teams are better at going more direct that us ?

For those who travel away do we seem to pass it around better away from home? That's what comes across on the highlights but they are just the best bits. In general do we seem to pass it better away ? Genuine question.

Captain I'm sure Scally will be advertising for some volunteers with JCBs to come and dig the pitch up after the Plymouth game ? or the fans to take a piece of the 'hallowed turf'

Yes we do. Though, recently, not as well as during the long mid-term spell when, mysteriously, with the same players, we actually played some good flowing passing football on many occasions. I don`t blame the pitch, we`ve played much better away on worse pitches than Priestfield this season.
