Holiday?

The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Thinking of trying to get away for a holiday once I've got a certain contract business wise sorted this week.

I haven't had a holiday for nearly three years, I wouldn't have been able to fly last year with the brain ache flair up (was too ill anyway, but the pressure in plane makes it worse in my cavity at back of head)

I would imagine I will be on my tod, as most mates have had holidays or are married etc. just want to switch off and when I try to have a holiday from home, I carry on working, my discipline isn't great.

I don't want to do much, chill, sun, pool, nice views, beach maybe.

Any ideas where would be decent this time of year? Don't need clubs etc!

Could spend up to a thousand quid I guess. Tentatively had a quick look at Bali and Cape Verde, but not been to a travel agent yet. Found a few who specialise in holidays for singles ie for hotels that don't charge obscene single supplements.

My one fear is going and being pestered by people seeing me on my own, I don't like joining strangers and doing small talk, not my nature!!

I'm not def going as I also need a deposit for a new car for march, but very tempted. If not now, the thread could give me a few ideas for later.

Thread for sensible suggestions to start with please!!

Barcelona is beautiful and you might even be able to take in a game at Camp Nou (or watch Espanyol in the Olympic Stadium).
You just need to watch out for the pickpockets. When we were there, I kept notes in my shoe!

When you say any ideas wheres good this time of year do you mean weather wise? If so I would gp to one of the canary isles mate. Just my own opinion, its not far, decent beaches and decent weather with decent trips and activities.

Yeah, really want reliably hot weather, 90's or late20's early 30's temp wise.

The heat soaks into my battered body.

Then I would go to the canaries mate. Good weather whatever time of the year you go as its just off the coast of Morocco. You can also get a ferry to the neighbouring isle one of the best holidays I had was to lanzerote as I done all the excursions.

Yeah, must ask my business partner about Lanzerote as well, he goes every year. Can't it be a bit windy there though?

With Barney on this 1. Agrees with the Canary Islands for decent weather. Cyprus is also good for weather all year round too, however probably easier to get somewhere quieter in The Canary Islands JF

Might look for a bit more of a treat though, push the boat out. Not literally, I have staff for such things.

But will put on the consider list! Randy stand is back from Tenerife in the week, can get an update from him as well

Surely you could just hire your own yacht to go round the Med staffed by 3 or 4 scantily-clothed lovelies?

Didnt find it windy when I went mate. Though I mate the mistake of not putting sun cream on when it was cloudy and ended up hetting blisters. Dont make that midtake mate because its the air that will burn you. Even if its cool

The canaries a suggested by Barney sounds a good shout. Malta is supposed to be reasonable at this time too
But for good temperatures then Dubai?

Crete is amazing but this time of year will be a bit crapy tbh, Tenerife is nice all year round weather and only four hour flight, Los Christianos i stayed and was lovely people nice and the food eating out was amazing, my mrs says majorca is the best but don't listen to her go for the canaries all year round weather duuuude!!!!

Hows things mark. Long time no speak. You well? :18:

If I go, I think it will be further to get 'real'. Last holiday I went to a turkey for the'guaranteed sun' and we had storms, cloud and rain for ten of the fourteen days.

Just looked at forecast for Tenerife and Lanzarote and they were mixed, one had rain plus cloudy days. Being on my tod might be boring enough but if the weather isn't spot on it'll be a total disaster.

Might just spend more on a car!!!!

Fear if you had loads of money first place I would go is Bora Bora looks absolutely incredible... You can live like a king in Thailand for fuck all but the flights are what gets ya... Then of course there is the Canaries... Peurto Rico in the Canaries (not across the atlantic in America) is sillly cheap... My mates have been there a lot and my parents went too and loved it...

Personally Iv never been on a sun holiday all my trips away have involved work, football or school...

Id recommend not bothering with Portugal or Spain as you'll be just another English tourist who the locals secretly (and sometimes not so secretly) hate...

The Seycelles is another cool place Id like to go but Im all about alternative holiday locations everyone I know just goes to the same places and its not exactly an adventure which is more what I want in my holidays...
