Starting to look it is going to be a bloodbath really isn't it?
So many closing in the Kingfisher Centre, which then decreases the footfall and will risk others.
A few haven't re-opened, H.Samuel has gone, Body Shop after 20 years has closed, there are so many empty shops now. As for the high street, it is literally a row of open shops with just a coffee shop and charity shop left at the top end.
Even here in York its noticeable! Its so stark on some streets it like "woah" in one place it is 4 shops in a row that are empty. 10 shut within the same small area.
In our village attached to York Peacocks has not reopened. Notice on the door gives no idea when it will be open
Peacocks is one of many within the group of shops including Bon Marche, Edinburgh Wool Shop and others.
Not even all the charity shops have reopened in our village.
Our village looks better than York. There been a conserted effort over the years to keep the shops full in what is a busy high street in our larger village.
Alot of variant in it so we are lucky as quite a few independent shops including greengrocers, butcher, bakery, large store that sells everything which there is 6 of in the North, called Boyes, a small hardware store which does ok and has reopened too.
Along with a vape shop, usual loan shops, charity shops, specialist/generic, freezer shop, chemists and Morrisons.
Then there's the chippy, couple of cafes, estate agent and opticians[/QUOTE]
