Here we go!

It's all a bit odd.

I would have thought that if you are capable of learning a musical instrument, you are probably capable of sorting your travel admin out. The whingeing that is going on all seems to be about first world problems with glaringly obvious solutions.

As for Daltrey, fill your form in and shut up, ya big fanny.

You really are unconscionable - this is the destruction of one of the industries that we are actual world leaders in

This is ruining millions of lives - It's not just about filling out forms

You say first world problems - you morons are dragging us back from being first world

It's a storm in a teacup; rousing by anti Brexit luvvies.

Though you may have a point, I can't ever remember any US musical acts touring Europe, ever!

I see you are trying a new argument about brexit issues- not teething problems now but first world problems only suffered by the middle classes or people with enough money to not care about.

Once again, might play well in mansfield but its not true is it. Food rotting in ports, people paying lots of extra charges for something they did for no extra charge before.

Again i ask for what? Sovereignty?

Its bullshit strett, stop pissing in our ears and telling us its raining, it wont wash.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. This will stop about 80% of touring bands from being able to tour at all, and the only reason it has happened is because our government doesn't want to accept the EU offer, making the EU the good guys, so everyone suffers.

Argument? I'm not arguing I'm holding the hands of people whining for no real reason.

As for this specific point, the EU proposals covered the artists but not the roadies and all other non-performing staff, this is why the UK government rejected them, they were looking out for the ‘little guy’

I suppose the poor fella who powders Sir Elton’s wig, and tells him how special he is as he comes off stage, is low on his priorities.

I have no tome for Champagne socialists who pretend to have a conscience.

Again you have literally no idea what you are talking about.

The vast, vast majority of bands have no roadies or other touring staff, and if you do, you are able to sort out visas easily.

Most touring bands stay on friends sofas because they already can't afford a hotel.

These are the people the government are screwing.

WTF is difficult about sorting a visa out???

He really doesn't have a fucking clue he's a selfish britain hating leave voter

He's done more damage to this country than Hitler..they all have

Its not just bands its performers, theatre, stand up comedians, circus etc

They are basically ending the careers and lively hoods of millions of people

Just the basics of a small band or DJ playing in live venues in the nearest and most profitable market is now dead because of the costs of the paperwork and mark up on their merchandise and visas etc

And what makes it worse is the EU offered the Tory cu-nts exemptions from fees for live acts and performers but the Tory cu-nts turned it down

They didnt even ask for anything in return

Fucking leave voters destroying entertainment and joy

You are certifiably insane.

Fuck in ell

You really are a specific kind of daft

The consensus amongst those who actually put gigs on, is that as long as European audiences want to see British musicians, promoters will find a way to keep the show on the road. And, whether we like it or not, there is a COVID shaped window to iron out problems, because right now, there are no gigs on the horizon anyway.

You're missing the point.
Visa applications cost money. Touring around the EU now has an additional cost of 80 quid per band member.
That will make touring prohibitively expensive for most bands, who are playing gigs pretty much for free or like £30 per gig, which is how most bands operate.

The assumption that all bands are travelling around with huge touring buses and staff is a bit wrong here. This isn't about Elton John, its about some experimental jazz band that aren't popular but enrich the cultural scene. In both directions it improves the culture. Its a classic example of 'things brexiters don't understand'.

No the only people who are insane are leave voters who go on about shit they don't understand don't get the implications, have done untold damage to Britain, it's heritage, it's culture, its standing in the world

Well, if anything sums up the pointlessness of the EU, this is it. Have a lot of rules to make it harder and more expensive for artists to entertain their own people.

The EU are now depriving their own youth of a market they've enjoyed for decades, (including the 80s, prior to the EU, so not sure how they coped then).

They can always keep listening to their Euro-pop, and there's Eurovision don't forget.

I'm still holding out hope that government is just negotiating while there are no gigs happening.
It might be the case.

This personally affects me and most of my friends (why else do you think i live in Manchester? the charming accent?), so its something i feel strongly about. I don't think the blame can be put on the EU here, given that its impossible to find the actual specific reasons why our government rejected their offer. The government says 'its what the industry wants' but no-one within the industry actually wants this at all. I've a feeling its about optics more than anything else.
