ahhh i remember him vaguely, tho as a tory, I got that wrong. Seems he broke up the trade unions tho so maybe thats why..

Perspective chap, next to boris he is the fooking model of a statesman
In that respect yes, I would concur.
But Major was far from a statesman to me.
He also pisses me off, as like Blair, he can't help himself today with his beak.
Much as he was another Snob, I had to respect Cameron for resigning and keeping his mouth shut.
It's a rarity today.
I remember reading an article Major had written about Brexit and it was really well thought out.

He made the point that you had the two extremes shouting and screaming at Europe and each other while the views of the quiet majority were being totally ignored. He believed that if those ‘extremists’ were silenced for a while it might be possible to get a decent deal and agreement of terms in place. I don’t think he was far off the mark.

Well looks like britain has woken up. About bloody time and thank goodness. Had begun to think we had totally lost it.

Not even about tory labour etc, so much damage has been caused, whatever colour, if we can get the grown ups back we have a chance.

Not sure this yet counts as green shoots of recovery but it's movement in the right direction.

Right? 100% agree.

I am appalled by this government. Historically from the Tories you want/expect low taxation and low public spending; we have had a Tory government making a dog's breakfast of trying to be socialist! I blame Carrie!

Vote Labour for a more right wing government.

thing is tho, theyve supported the tory mantra, not just Bojo mantra, the lies, deceit, cheating and scamming of the public. If they change the leader they will still vote Tory, give em one thing, they really know how to manipulate that demographic :(

I must admit, I chuckle when I hear this government called hard right Tories?

The most certainly are not hard right. They haven't got a spine and it makes them look awful in many ways.
Their money spending has been akin to any socialist government, even though spent badly.
So one bunch of big spending idiots will get the boot and the cycle will repeat.
By the time we hit the government after, the debt will be frightening.

NB, on a footnote, maybe this is the plan?
Break the place and rejoin the EU on par with Estonia and be a monetry benefactor?
:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

He broke the trade unions strangle hold on the Labour party, by bringing some democracy to it.

He understood, that Unions are there to fight for workers rights, not dictate politics.
like they are be doing now with the strikes I suppose. I couldnt understand why they want to damage the public in this way who are desperate for a break.

From what I can deduce. The government had been in talks with them for months and basically government said, look, this is simply inefficient and expensive, we need cuts and lay offs, preferably redundancies. or reorganisation.

Unions said, we wont have lay offs, you need to give them other jobs or train them for something else.

Workers said, Ive got a cushy number here, dont want to lose that, let other people work weekends, not me.

So all 3 sides are looking after number 1 and nobody really looking for solutions..

The buck simply HAS to stop with the government, who created the landscape but Unions should probably be openly talking and revealing thing sin a much better way to the public at large for the months leading up strikes so we can decide who we are actually in support of, not just find you cant take yer kids to school or get to work one week,

Basically everything is broken, everybody is batting for different teams

Paz I was referring to the Unions strangle hold of the Labour party, in its selections.

And no, I don't believe its all about workers rights. Its an anti Tory fight and it will be all year with many others.

We've seen it many times through history and it always ends up as a mess for everyone eventually when they think they have won.

Yea i reckon he is fooked. He is a net drag on the tories now. Tories got the most votes overall and still lost (thats first past the post democracy for you). Think boris has finally won something unexpected, more hated than corbyn.

Thats what the by elections suggest tho paz, people will vote tory but not boris, they've had enough. It was amusing to see boris bumble around and stick it to the man over brexit but cost of living crisis and partygate have stuck in the craw and nobody is laughing anymore. Be surprised if he makes to xmas myself
