Hope someone can help. My son and I have been offered use of an apartment in Whitechapel. What is this are like for access etc?

Any help appreciated.

Whitechapel access to what, central London? Infer structure transport wise is not issue in London mate. Busy at peak times but a world of Buses and tubes. Circle and district line on the tube is one end of the Whitechapel road. But its near the financial center. And a quarter of a mile fro Liverpool street station. Area-wise was poor asian qauter of the city now fast on the way to Yuppiehood. Take the flat have a holiday you will have a great time. London is a city with all the requisite issues cities have so mind your bag and know where you are going but safety wise I back it against any city in North America in any area.

Thanks Don. It looks great access wise, it has just been a long time since I have been in London and wasn't sure.

Just to support that (and as I have a family member who's a Doctor at the major hospital there, and seen/been involved in some nasty incidents) it's probably wise to just understand that the area has it's tensions and that crime of all types can be a bit of a problem - so don't play the tourist and be mindful of your safety...

Yeah used to live down the road in Bow a few years back. East of the city tends to be quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else and does attract quite a bit more crime than other parts.

You've got Londons curry mile on your door step in whitechapel, which is great for a night out (Shoreditch at the other end for after the food).

There are worse places to live than Whitechapel, but much better too. I've personally never had any problems in East London, but you hear of stabbings pretty much every week (which is the same in North and South London to be fair)

As has already been mentioned though, anywhere in the greater London area is very well connected. I live down in Croyson at the moment but can get into the city in less than 20 minutes.

Trust me mate I go out in every area in London all the time. If you are not drunk and wandering around waving a wad of cash and an I-Pad you will be as safe as houses. It seems silly for people to even have to point that out because I know no place on earth where that is not the case. London is one of the safest Cites in the world. I have personally lived in Milan, LA. New york, Seattle, Hong Kong, Berlin, Rome, Austin, Accra Enjoy it 80 I bet you come back :14:
