Help Me Buy a New Laptop

Basically, computers are tax deductible over here up to around £600 (RM3,000). My old laptop is getting on a bit and I'm not a fan of income tax but I haven't a rasher about computers so I don't want to get fleeced in the shops.

I don't play games. Most of my work is in Word or Excel and a little bit of Photoshop and illustrator so I don't need the top of the line but I do move around a fair bit these days so light and portable with good battery life are my priorities.

Can anyone recommend me a laptop?

I don't usually accept cash due to money laundering, but as it's you I'll make an exception.Put it all in a couple of suitcases and send it UPS.

The most important thing to consider when buying a laptop is to make sure that the CPU is a decent one. It is the one part of a laptop that cannot be upgraded. With that in mind for that amount of cash I recommend anything with an Intel I5 processor. With most laptops these days hard drives are huge so unless you download loads of films I wouldn't worry about that. As for Ram it is cheap to upgrade but any decent laptop will have a minimum of 4gb. If your a gamer look for dedicated graphics.

Dont worry too much about about brand although build quality is better at the HP and Sony end of the market, but do get one you like looking at and would want to use. Hope this helps.

Acer has always served me well BB! I don't play games either. I use Microsoft word and some excel along with other various apps. Works well for me.

Acer prices average is between £250-00 upwards to around £400-00. Then they take a bit of a jump to £800 plus for the gaming type machines

I wouldn't touch Toshiba with a barge pole. Anyone I know what has had a Toshiba has had nothing but trouble with them and ended up sending them back, or replacing

I'm looking at ultra portables at the moment. The Acer Aspire S13 seems to fit the bill. I'm wondering if it's worth the extra RM1k (£200) to upgrade to the i7 processor, 528GB hard drive and touch screen.

If you can afford it BB why not. I am not keen on touch screens though on laptops. Just my opinion. Sticky marks etc to clean off every use. Never looks clean to me. That is why I dont use my Kindle Fire that much on the internet. Bad enough trying to keep a mobile screen clean and unsmudged

I've got a Lenovo, it's an i3 processor, 8gb of memory and it's rubbish.

Previously had Dell, HP and Acer which have all been better.

Have you got a crowd funding page? I could probably afford a tenner but not much more.

I7 would be fantastic, those ultrabooks usually SSD hard drives which help speed on a PC

Why would you want to buy a crowd?

You could have them dance for your entertainment and pretend to be former North Korean leader Kim Jung Il.

If kim Jung is Ill get him to the hospital.

In reality buy the highest spec laptop you can afford.

If its only Vital Villa and Porn it dont matter, if you want to go gaming on it thats another factor to consider.
