Head-to-Head - Millers v Blades

Watching at home online. No programme being printed for this game. But the club are carrying on doing them for league & cup games during season 26/27. I'm glad about that.
You might want to watch from behind the sofa. I know it’s only a friendly, but this could be a horror show. At least it will be a good physical workout - we are going to be chasing around a lot. Has a Millers side ever been booed off after a friendly before?

Team news... lots of trialists only a few days before the start of the season!
TS should be ashamed. No new players signed this morning (Thanks for another completely wrong tip-off, Radio Sheffield!). Difficult to make any sense of it all.
Could be 3-5-2 , 4-4-2, who knows?

Cann Rafferty (C) . Adeoboyega, Trialist A, Ashley, Jellis, Trialist B, Trialist C Nemane, Tavares, Martha

Subs- Turner (GK, Trialist D), Hall, L.Clarke, Agbaire, Lee, Kaleta, J.Clarke, Spence, Gardner, Trialist E, TrialIst F, Trialist G

SEVEN TRIALISTS !
Never known anything like this before!
This is probably worse than any previous season's starting point for RUFC in my lifetime. Only season that was similar was Ronnie's first spell in charge... and it took us years to get promoted out of Division 4.

That's a line-up that would not unduly frighten the Sheffield Notre Dame girls First 11. I usually comment on rumours but the assortment of crap I've seen us linked with is such I can't be rrsed. How did 5500 people fall for this charade?

Correction - Spence is a sub.
Looks like Douglas and Duncan are still out injured.

TS may as well just say that this is our last Football League season for a while... very sad. What a way to go...

Hardly any Millers fans there, a few minutes before kick off!

Baptiste starts for the Blades.

42min - Blades take the lead from a ball over the top.
HT : 0-1

Turner (sub keeper) and Spence now on

52min 0-2 now
60 min Agbaire, Kaleta, Cover plus three trialists on
67min Hall replaces Rafferty
Jellis has hit the crossbar twice!

71min Gardner replaces Tavares. Lee also on.

FT : 0-2

We haven't got anybody who can put the ball in the net. TS has known that for a very long time. He hasn't done anything significant about it.

Well losing 2-0 is a lot better than many people predicted.

It sounds as tho' the effort was there, which couldn't be said for much of last season.
It was. Blades were poor and I'm not sure if they put a strong side out. Consensus on their forum is that Rotherham were 'awful, awful', another poster said we were 'hopeless' and another said we were worse than a Sunday League team. More Blades fans than Millers in the ground proving you can't fool all the people all the time. I'm negative, I know but this is an absolute crock of you know what. League 2 and we're one of the favourites to go down. It really beggars belief.

Inrformation from 'Tizer website - Trialist A was Aljofree (again), Trialist B was a new one, Kyle McAdam, Trialist C was Davies (again), Trialist D was Turner (again). No information about the others.

My spies tell me that Aljofree is worth keeping.

I watched the game, and to be honest it was better than I expected, with all the negativity around the club at present. Without a doubt we struggled upfront, but in my opinion we have for a few years. Sheff United had a very strong team out for at least 60 mins, and to be fair we competed and tried to make it difficult for them. The Millers definitely could have a stronger team for the first 60 mins than we did, but the coaching staff were obviously looking at the lads on trial, also we hit the bar twice.
Let’s see what happens next, now that Nombe has gone. We need at least three strikers, but that is easier said than done. Keep the faith. UTM

Missed nearly all of last season due to an ankle injury...high risk!... just remind me about how we became one of the favourites to get relegated from L2...
Hadn't realised the injury thing, Mike. Makes him another shoe-in for the club that never learns. Besides, surely we're pretty well stocked in central defence if Lees joins?
