Have we got a future million £ plus player in Ellis Chapman?

I have been very impressed in pre season with Ellis Chapman and think he will play a significant part in the season ahead.
I also think it will be not long before Premiership / Championship clubs will be watching and offering big money for Ellis.
Highly rated by the Cowleys do you think he may become our first million pound plus player sold by our club?
If Exeter / Cheltenham can get million pounds plus for players why cant we?
I would also get him on a 5year deal not 3 sharpish.
 
Totally agree.

When people were talking about the squad earlier in the closed season I pointed out that people were forgetting about Ellis. He definitely has the potential to go onto much higher things! Hopefully he will be playing with us in The Championship in 2 or 3 years now wouldn't that be great! :grinning:
 
Early days but has a look to his play that you don’t see often
Players of quality in our league are quickly on other clubs radars if he already isn’t
 
I wouldn't contemplate giving anyone a 5 year contract-I would argue 3 is too long. At some stage you would expect him to go on loan to a local side and that should give us a better indication of his prospects.
 
To be honest I'd rather see a talented young player come through and play a few seasons at least at Lincoln, than see them go into a Premier League reserve team for big money.

I may be wrong but I actually don't think he will be going on loan anywhere certainly not until January at least. I think he will get regular opportunities in the starting line up this season. From what I have heard The Cowleys think he is that good!

He will undoubtedly be part of the first team squad this season, if not starting, definitely on the bench.
 
As long as we don't have to insert a £5,000 release clause at some stage. But yeah. Talented lad. Wonder if Leicester have some sell on deal or a buyback?
 
I'm sure he will get game time this season and there is no doubt that in years gone by a player of his quality would be a definite starter. In that sense you could argue Ellis has been unlucky, however the amount he must be learning from the likes of Bostwick, Frecklington and O'Connor will surely counter any notion that he is missing out on first team opportunities.
In fact with all the quality and expertise around him I would say he is in the perfect place to eventually become that million pound prospect...

a 17/18 year old understudy right back could learn in a similar way from eardley, and then be ready to take over in a couple of year's time...
 
Leicester City paid money for him initially, but for some reason couldn't settle there - looks good but whether he's that good only time will tell - agree with the view that we need at least 2/3 seasons out of him and who knows Championship with Lincoln City?
 
i do think that we will be in the championship in season 2021 2022 and i hope chapman will be there with us
 
We have a 19 man squad with at least one not available for the weekend, really cant see him going anywhere as we're going to need him.
He's started most of the friendlies too, he's going to feature quite a lot unless Danny has as a loanee lined up for central midfield berth.
