Brandon's coming for you Enda!

Brandon Haunstrup's someone many of us would have known of, by name at least, as he came through the set up at Pompey but this season he's also put himself very much in the 1st team picture and is challenging Enda Stevens for his place.

Former Aston Villa left back Stevens is the 'first choice' option at the moment but Haunstrup has already shown, despite being young and raw, he's capable so if he gets a chance he'll take it.

Positive Pompey extension

Brandon Haunstrup, whilst not getting too much 1st team football this season, is a player that appears to have a bright future.

This being secured by Pompey is (as I say) positive news!

Rumour has it a number of clubs have shown an interest in Haunstrup but a 12-month option has been taken up by the Blue to keep him at Fratton until the summer of 2017 at least.

His battle now is to force himself into Cookie's team ahead of Enda Stevens...

Which isn't going to be easy is it!

Having lost Stevens to Sheffield United, the ex-Aston Villa player was of such quality you can see why Haunstrup couldn't get a look-in, Pompey didn't want to lose the local lad.

Great news as Haunstrup is a player that's always been rated at Fratton Park. Obviously wouldn't have wanted to lose Stevens but now that he's gone Brandon should get his change.

Wolves loanee Sylvain Deslandes started against Gillingham but Brandon Haunstrup finished it - the pair are battling for the left sided defensive position when Pompey go to Oldham.

All being well Haunstrup WILL return to the starting XI at Oldham, be it as a regulation left back or a left wingback as I personally feel he'll offer more than Deslandes.

His second half showing against Gillingham was as good as I've seen from the academy graduate as he looks to live up to his long-term promise.
