Hart Of The City?

Johnny Baguette

Alert Team
Been weighing up the Harty up the road rumours.

The keeper in a Guardiola team plays as an 11th outfield player. As we saw yesterday Joe does linger and dither a bit and his distribution canbe poor. That said he has only played 45 mins pre season.

Joe is also a great ambassador for our club.

I'd like to see him given the season to prove he's up to it, think he's earned that. If he doesn't cut the mustard then then so be it

No indeed. Hardly been helped by the lack of recognised centre backs but the stats in this article will not help his cause.....

Joe Hart did himself no favors in flimsy display against Arsenal

From Goal.com

Champions League/domestic league pass accuracy:-
Ter Stegen - 86.8 % (highest in CL)/83.6 %
Hart - 43.8%/55.1%

Yet it was 76% in the Euros.

Also to say that 1st Arsenal goal was anything like the Iceland goal is just absurd. Joe did well to get anything on that shot.

Having seen the odd clip of Hart with a ball at his feet in training I would have thought his distribution accuracy would have been better.

Possibly no worse as a centre back than AK13/Fernando...

His passing/distribution stats are not as good as Ted Stagen because he's never been asked to play a short passing game by any of his previous City managers has he? It'll take time for the whole defence to get used to this, not just Joe. I'm confident he can do it. I just hope Pep gives him the chance to prove it

I wonder how Ter Stegen would cope with PL set pieces. All the step overs and keepy uppies wouldn't be much use to him in that regard.

I think Harty is safe for this season, or maybe until January if Pep so decides. Big flapper Willy is not going to displace him.

Stranger things have happened. :002:
From what I've read, Pep will forgive mistakes, but not failing to 'carry out orders'. Willy was at least trying to play out from the back (orders) even though he almost cost us goals. Joe quickly seemed to revert to kicking it long. If he's done that off his own back, and not on a change in instruction, that won't have gone down well :048:

If we are in the market for a new keeper you'd have to wonder why we didn't bring Valdes in when he was a free agent.

Wouldn't seem to fit in with our other recent purchases i.e. under 25? :048:

Yeah possibly, it just seems odd with all this talk of a Pep type keeper, this guy is the prototype Pep type keeper available for free, still got a few years left in him.
