Aston Villa are apparently second favourites to sign England international Joe Hart.

I believe Joe Hart's Man City contract is worth in the region of £130k a week.
I think that pretty much rules us out of a full transfer.
As for a loan, Man City would have to pay at least 50% of his wage and I don't think they'd be happy to do that.
These things, added to the fact that Hart has been getting more and more inconsistent over the last two or three seasons, would make an offer for him extremely silly, in my book.

If I didn't know better, I'd swear that it was Doug trying to sell a few more season tickets!

Could happen.

Terry people said wouldn't happen.

hart wants regular football.

Aston Villa IS a big club no matter the division.

Southgate knows Villa, Hart being here and in the Championship wouldn't go against him, being at a small foreign club might.

He will know his wages will have to come down, if it is a loan Man City would probably pay a % anyway to get him partly off their books.

yeah, few reports have said a loan with a chance of a purchase if we go up

Manager Steve Bruce has said he's hoping for progress in our goalkeeper search in the next 24/48 hours as he still eyes two or three new additions to the group.

'This is Futbol' have come up with an interesting solution to our goalkeeping problem.
They suggest, that if Man Utd continue to waffle over the loan request for Sam Johnstone, that we move for Joel Periera, Johnstones team-mate instead.
Periera is 21 and is wanted by Porto and Sporting Lisbon.

Eight games for Rochdale, one for United and one sub and eight games for Belenenses?

I've heard him talked about somewhere as a prospect but at three years older Johnstone already has over 100 games to his name.

Get could be getting rather exciting couldn't it?........

I'm only just about accepting John Terry will be wearing a Villa shirt this season. It's all getting a bit hard to accept. If Hart does come, call an ambulance for me!

:17:

LOL Wow. I won't rule out anything after capturing JT. If we get Hart as well then we are really making a massive statement. These are the types of signings I'd welcome if we were top 8 in the prem ever mind mid table in the Championship.

Personally for me its a no to Joe Hart, he will cost us points, the number of games we draw or lose because of his incompetence will be the focus of these forums. I know we need a new No1 but Hart aint it.

Please make the story go away......

I will rule it out becuase its a completely different scenario to JT i'm afraid. Hart as a goalkeeper ( being a unique position to an outfield player) may not have even peaked or is at his peak. JT is well past his peak. Hart has not got a 22 year loyalty to a premier league club to consider. JT is not entering a season in which he has a world cup squad place to grab like Hart.

Love so much to be wrong, but Hart is surely premier league bound.

Being linked with these kind of players is all good , it shows intent ambition and gets us back in the news . Yes we know it's unlikely but it's better than being linked with Mark Bunn or some Norwich reject just for the feel good factor alone.
I'm not sure after those two goals against Scotland he's really very good anyway but he is the current England keeper .
Link us with who you want , it stops us becoming a forgotten club like Leeds etc

If joe hart wants to come and join the revolution I have no qualms about taking him on board.
Experience is important and whilst he's dropped a few clangers, most keepers do

Lets be honest if a player would sooner sign for watford or Bournemouth Swansea etc just so they can stay in the top league and play in a relegation battle then good luck to them .
If they want a big club with fantastic facilities and a household name all over the world then outside of the big 5 there is no bigger than Aston Villa . A name known by people who don't even follow football.
Hart is from Shrewsbury just up the M54 , might even be a Villa fan for all we know .

With manager Steve Bruce saying the other day that he hoped progress would be made on Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in 24/48 hours, it's now being reported...

thought they'd said he could leave? not keen on too many loans, we need to be properly building
