My point was slightly different. It was that Winks had done the hard bit by being a fantastic sub for Poch, especially covering for Dembele and closing out games. By the time it was his turn to play the number 8 role, he had his own injuries. There were glimpses of a Wanyama / Winks partnership but ultimately he was shoehorned into the number 6 role after he recovered, especially as the hapless Sissoko had no discipline.

If the hapless Alli didn't specialise in stinking up the pitch, Sissoko wouldn't have to venture where he shouldn't tread.

If you'd watched closely, you would have seen that Sissoko's guilty pleasure was hanging out in the right back or right wing areas. That is what his heat map always showed us, as compared to centre mid where it should have been. Absolutely nothing to do with Dele.

Shock how it is always everyone's else's fault but never three-year passenger Alli. If you watched, Alli was rarely a factor in the final third; it was often Sissoko breaking the lines and at least laying a glove on our opponents.

I suggest you write your own thought provoking thread on Dele and get the gang to discuss it rather than just keep hijacking all of the threads on other players and subjects.

I suggest you refrain from dictating what I write, and the afront of one rule for you referencing Sissoko on a Winks thread.

I fully understand that you believe Dele is causal to the Winks performance with Sissoko being the link between. I just don't want the thread moving to yet another Dele debate because he becomes core, not context, to the Winks conversation.

Sissoko certainly didn't help Winks progression.

Oh the nightmares of Winks being left on his Todd and we concede a goal through the middle.

Only took 2 whole seasons to find out it didn't work.
