Harrogate Town / Simon Weaver

Vital 1st Team Regular
Harrogate Town, managed by ex Imp Simon Weaver have been promoted to the National League having won the North Play off Final

Also, Braintree in the South. I'm not normally too interested in the Southern section, but pleased to see them bounce back, since their relegation last year followed the Cowleys moving here

Four newbies in the National League next season - Chesterfield, Harrogate, Havant & Waterlooville and unfortunately Salford.

On that particular topic, Gary Neville admitted live on air today that the Tranmere play-off final on Saturday was only the second NL game he had ever watched. No wonder these guys have no understanding of smaller clubs - as the owner of a non-league club, that is quite an admission.

Congratulations Simon Weaver! He’s been there a Longmont old time with his dad and I’m pleased he’s had some success!

Don't know if it's been picked up, but Salford's joint managers, Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, have left the club. Seems to be a bit of acrimony. They wanted to discuss their contracts, because overall they had been losing money since going full time, and "one or two other issues" including the club's policy on player recruitment

Also appears there's been speculation that the board had planned to bring in their own man, but Morley and Johnson's success had prevented them making the change

So watch this space.......

I expect they'll be lining up a big name for maximum publicity.

Weaver's made hard work of getting Harrogate up. They've been big spenders, courtesy of his Dad, in the NLN since he took charge.

Yeah, with the money his dad has chucked at it, he's done a relatively poor job. It's taken five years to get promoted since his dad bought the club.

Nice one Simon and Harrogate. When we were in the National League I always liked to see new teams coming up into the division. Look, there wasn't much else to get excited about!

As for Braintree, I'm glad they're back as they really were the victims of our success.

I think they're expecting Salford to shoot up the leagues into a division they know something about. Hope they get held up in the National League but can't see it, they'll keep rising for a while yet.

Bit harsh methinks. I don't think he's chucked Billericay kind o money at it and that league is a swine to get out of. Just ask York/Stockport/Kidderminster

I'm sure I read that the two Salford lads were talking to Chesterfield about the vacancy there.

Joint English young managers at a club slipping down the leagues into possible extinction. Surely that can't work!
