Harris & Clemence

That thread makes for very familiar reading. Confusion as to the specific reason, fans blaming other fans for getting on his back, etc.

Mutual decision apparently.
Speaking to a couple of Millwall mates it seems to be a recurring theme, I.e. the style of play is acceptable if you are winning every week, otherwise, well we know the rest.

Got 3 Millwall fans ( 2 of them STH) at work and they all say the same. The footballs OK to watch if they're winning, when they're not (to quote one) "it's as boring and smelly as dogshit to watch".

Seems to be a pattern emerging here
Definitely:

"The direction we as a club want to head in is clear and the next head coach will play a pivotal role in helping us execute our strategy."

So that means they will appoint his successor in about a month, then. By then they will have played Sheffield United, Middlesborough, Norwich and Coventry.

Bizarre that he's managing tomorrow and Saturday then stepping down, will be wierd for the players and strange atmosphere I imagine.

Why is it bizarre? Mutual decision. Harris loves the club and gets to leave on his own terms and say his goodbyes rather than a more disruptive sudden departure.

Just think it's strange halfway through the season, this could be just as disruptive as the players won't know who the new manager is, will they be part of his plans etc. They've been in very good form apart from the last two results.

The rumblings around the time of his dismissal were that the club hierarchy wanted Livermore to be removed from his position as Assistant Manager after throwing a punch against a Crawley player. Harris stood by Livermore and that is supposedly why he was let go rather than our form.
Yes I remember this at the time and thought it the most likely explanation . However Livermore himself refuted this when a Gills fan (think it was “Beanhead” from memory) stated the same theory on Twitter a couple of months ago.
Of course he asked Livermore what really happened then, and he did not answer.

Calling a section of the fanbase “thickos” sealed his own fate, I guess he was finding the stick he got too much and has had enough.

I live on a dog walking route so I could post some interesting dog shit to them ….

He was probably better to keep his own council on the intelligence of some fans, but you can see his point.
Just look at some of ours for comparison.
The ‘OUT’ brigade generally get their way in the end, but does very much really change.
We are so much better off the pitch but on, nothing too much has changed with the last three managers.

I think I also recall the Brad said he was still in contact with, and on good terms with, Harris a few weeks after he sacked him.

Wasn't there also an interview with Bonner shortly after he was appointed where he said he had been contacted by both Harris and Clemence who had both told him they would offer any help and advice he wanted? Or at least something along those lines.

Yes he remained on good terms with Brad, personally I think the decision to sack him was down to Paul Scally who was running the football side at the time.
We got that cryptic tweet referring to “snakes” from Harris’s wife at the time, as Trashbat alludes to.

He did comment that the three of them ended up being on the same table at some event for EFL managers. May have been an FA or League Managers Association event.
