And a top fella, lucky enough to have got to know him over the years, he's a proper football man!
 
When he first arrived from Everton he was close to being described as woeful. A liability in defense.

Far from being the player who faced us in those three League Cup finals, he looked a fish out of water. Then he scored two goals in a 2-0 Villa Park victory against Gornik Zabrze, and he didn't look back.

His confidence returned, he went from strength to strength, and the rest of course is history.
