Given the frequency with which I have picked up comments on the match day threads alone I have been harbouring thoughts about starting a thread on what I regard as institutional bias within broadcast media especially. Those journos, hacks, pundits, commentators and summarisers who are unable to keep their agendas or personal biases out of their voices, hysterical reactions to goals or just constant harping on about the same old themes over and over again (cost of the city squad, the Evans that have passed since an away win, clean sheets without Kompany :blah!: ).......drive me batty at times.
I still recall the derby game at the Swamp when Dzeko scored inside the first minute. I wasn't actually watching the screen at the time and remember as clear as day my surprise when I looked up thinking "did he just say we'd scored?" As the commentator's reaction was SO flat you would never have known. It was brought back to mind this last weekend when Willian scored for Chelsea and the commentator wet himself as if he 'd thumped the ball in from the halfway line instead of a straightforward strike from.....the edge of the 18 yard box. Gross over reaction was my thought.
