With most of the speculation now behind us, we can concentrate on pushing ahead. It will be interesting to see what (if anything much) changes with team preparations and playing style, and community engagement. And how the players adapt. I’m looking forward to the season even more than before! Any thought on who MA’s assistant will be?

Agree this is a very positive appointment.
Re the assistant some have mentioned Fazackerley but he seems well set at Oxford and being 67 now might not want to uproot himself
Ashley Westwood is a possible having worked with Appleton before at Pompey, Blackpool and Blackburn
It seems he was actually signed for us in the bad old days of Holdsworth but left without playing a game.
Or as a slightly left field one possibly Craig Shakespeare? Appleton was his assistant at Leicester. Perhaps a reverse position with us
