Police officers have been honing their high-speed driving skills by practising on the PlayStation game Gran Turismo. Lincolnshire Police sent four specialist officers to Silverstone in Northamptonshire to see if the extra tuition would be worthwhile.

They've found new racing drivers using it, so why not? Paired with the right wheel and pedals, it feels very real, and the game itself is extremely realistic.

Does this mean I'm now a Police trained driver? I finished GT5.

No I know, just fascinates me - I don't drive but I started with GT and I've stuck with it as a game and the people who say it's that realistic always left me wondering.

But think it might have been Top Gear or Gadget Show years ago doing a test of the NSX and doing a direct comparison piece.

Great game!

I think it was Top Gear. They did the Ring in real life and on GT, and got within seconds of each lap.

Just debating whether to get a PS4 for GT Sport. Playing Project Cars on PC, which, if anything, is more realistic, so probably won't. Still, the VR version looks interesting.

Think you're right. I'm still limping along with PS3 but that serves my purpose lol

The detail and work that goes into it has always got me.
