Good Morning Thread

I had a pair of merlins bombing around me this morning while enjoying my coffee in the early morning outdoor peace and quiet.

And for those of you who can't stand Elon, Starlink is a marvellous system. The more remote the location, the better the speed. Less competition for satellites.

This is a great reminisce....

   That was a great time to spend Saturdays at The Lane.

Afternoon to all my fellow Yid opo's out there!

Hows about this for there are some good people in the world!

One of Mrs PY's oppo's called earlier to show her Bald head, she has Cancer :cry:and is undergoing that Cancer Treatment, jeez the name of which has gone out of my head, anyways hair loss.

So as the story goes the Cancer Lady went to a Barber this morning who when asked to shave her head, refused! after being shown that you can just pull her hair out, he then shaved her head adding creaming of her scalp.

The Lady asked the Barber how much she owed him he answered Nothing! now go and get better! so there are some Good peops about! (y) 🥃 cheers all...COYS

Hi PY, thankfully when I had it, the Chemo only thinned my hair, but it Feked up my hands, and finger nails, skin peeling etc, funny medicine.

Why is it so pleasing when you splat a fly with a fly swat .

Why does it make you feel so good . The sense of victory , the enormity of if all . The feeling of achievement! It’s not as if you have just wiped out the entire fleet of them , and never see one again .

But it’s always so pleasing .,

I mean ,the pride in that moment soon disappears …. there is always a consequence to that action that isn’t good .

We were on the patio yesterday afternoon, sitting in the shade , coffee on the table , and one of the buggers had got through all my defences , every deterrence known to man , …..my wife has an absolute hatred of them ,….. and started buzzing around , knowing full well it wasn’t wanted , hadn’t been invited and was on top of the list for destruction .
Why it had put itself in this position was a major mystery .

But it didn’t care . Round and round it went , trying to land , completely ignoring what it was being told , full of bravado .

So the last line in defence was brought into play , a bright yellow plastic fly swat , three for a pound at Home Bargains , two of which are somewhere indoors , and the one seeing action being stored under the patio table .

Everything came to a stop as my wife armed herself , waited …. And pounced . She got the fucker , who had just landed on the cryptic crossword I was battling with , but losing .

Brilliant shot , well timed , aimed perfectly, just to the rear , superb speed .

She was so pleased , overjoyed in fact .

I never had a chance of completing the crossword anyway .

If didn’t seem so appealing afterwards .trying to ignore the blood guts and shit , and working around it. The paper kitchen towel only served to spread it all over thirteen down , obliterated for posterity.

Consequences!

So it was back to the sunshine , horizontal for the rest of the afternoon until the beers came out around five pm .

And then a curry around 7 pm , and more beers .

Fuck the flies …. Ain’t going to spoil our days .

The latest bird event of this expedition was my wife and I sitting on a cliff in Perce, Gaspe watching the gannets dive from 75’ or so straight into the water in multiples into shoals of fish. All with Perce Rock and Bonaventure Island in the background with the sun on them.

And yesterday a cheeky fox ran right between us on the trail we were on with a squirrel in its mouth.

A fox has to be a bit quick to catch a squirrel … we have several families of them outside our place , it’s great fun watching them chase each other , on the grass and in the trees .

Not so great though when they dig up our borders and pots to either find something or hide something .

One bugger chewed through the hose pipe in our front garden last summer , why I don’t know !

Glad you are having a great time , the pair of you ..

1965 - My Fair Lady

However, a list of best movies of 1965 also includes (in what must have been an horrific year for those of us that don't enjoy musicals) The Sound Of Music, Dr Zhivago & Mary Poppins.
Mention of The Sound Of Music gives me a chance to give a shout out to the recently sadly departed Bill Oddie. He played Maria Von Trappe, in a "The Goodies" sketch, where he was shot with an arrow as he came over the hill & launched into the annoying title song.
That made me laugh out loud, as a youngster, in 1975.
