Fan reactions to the rumour that Villa have started negotiations for Glenn Whelan...

If we get him for around a million it's a great deal. That's nothing in the scheme of things and it's actual squad depth where we need it.

How shite have we been without Jedinak? Perfect cover/support for putting presence in our midfield.

We can get glamorous when we get back to the glam league. We're in the grafting one for now and he's as good as grafter as you can get.

Can't get overly excited about the boy, but we are where we are, and I'm sure he will be a low cost addition to the squad in an area where we are still weak.

It's just a stopgap signing really, nothing to get too excited about but certainly nothing to be despairing about either.

Bruce knows what he needs for this team, and who's to argue with him with his record of getting out of the Championship?

Good point r.e if Jedinak ain't there then we have no one in that role.

291 premier league appearances for Stoke can't be sniffed at in experience

Only 5 goals tells you what his role is.

We need to score more goals . A lot more goals

Last season

30 Games
2 Assists
1 Shot on target :3: (should fit in nicely)
5 Yellow Cards.

Are we looking to buy him or are Sjoke City looking to off load him?

transfermarkt has him down for
276 Prem games over 9 years - smacking in 4 goals
quite remarkable not to be sniffed at etc

in comparison another Prem league thoroughbred
in just 133 games over 5 years SLAMMED in 5 goals
(hint: he pointed a LOT did nowt much else & now at Burnley)

Would be an absolute nothing of a signing (which prob is a reflection of where we are & potless)

There's an uncensored F-bomb on that fans reaction article in CDXs post, in case someone needs to know :17: :10:

What the fuck, Ill get admin on it right away.

I take it the sarcy sniff reference was in response to my post
He is experienced, no ?. As i said will not provde goals, not being bought for that clearly.

Claude Makelele, over 300 games for Madrid, Chelsea and PSG, 3 goals. Point being every not every effective midfielder is a goal scorer.

no it's a fair point - it's not just about goals (there's been at least 2 assists in the last 3 years)
It must be mighty rare to have this bloke compared to Makelele though -
still it's all about Prem appearances - few years older than Gabby with a Corbyn sized deficit on games played

just meh innit

Didn't compare Makelele to Whelan, missed the point again.

Your boring me, laters.

To put it bluntly, not the kind of signing that is going to put bums on seats, sell season tickets or worry rivals. Just plain boring, just like Bruce football last season.
