With the start of the season just over a couple of weeks away, I was having a think about how to run the prediction league.

Personally I was happy with how the rules allowed it to run last season - 3 points were awarded for the correct scoreline, 1 point was awarded if the correct result was predicted but not the correct scoreline, and 1 point was awarded per correctly predicted goalscorer regardless of whether the correct scoreline/result was predicted. These rules came with the proviso that all predictions should me made within the spirit of the competition, and players shouldn't continually post predictions whereby the intention was to just try and get goalscorer points.

However, there were a couple of suggestions of how the rules could be changed to further discourage anyone from just trying to obtain goalscorer points. Based on these suggestions, I've come up with 3 options on how the rules could be configured (while trying not to overcomplicate matters too much), and I'm entirely happy to go with what the popular choice is:

Option A - Stick with the rules as they were for last season.
Option B - Increase the number of points available for the correct scoreline and the correct result, e.g. 5 points for the correct scoreline and 2 points for the correct result but not the correct scoreline.
Option C - Only award goalscorer points if the scoreline is correctly predicted.

Please do let me know what you think by voting in the poll and I'll go with the most popular choice when the poll closes in 7 days!

Thanks for doing the prediction league again Patchy :-)
I shall try my best for mid-table obscurity!
