According to an article in the Times ( paywalled sorry), Gill is drawing up new rules for CL coefficients , so that clubs such as RM, BM the Dippers and unsurprisingly Stretford Red Sox, get points for their 'istory of winning the cup.

This will then affect seedings for draws.

UEFA wants each club awarded points depending on their European triumphs and when they were won - 15pts if within the last 5 years; 10pts since the CL started; 5pts for each European cup before that.

These points would also contribute towards the club's overall coefficient giving them an advantage in respect of seeding and income distribution. They argue that the CL 'brand' has been built by the biggest clubs so they deserve the biggest rewards.

Sounds like a football version of Animal Farm to me. All clubs are equal but some are more equal than others.

They should call it the History Clause. :017:

In other news City's old friend Rummenigge has said that it was "not fair" that Manchester City had topped the CL prize-money list last season despite losing in the semi final.

Well perhaps if we'd been winning trophies instead of fannying around in the lower reaches of the English leagues then we might now be benefiting from it.

Yes, it does seem like the old money protecting it's stately homes from lottery winners driving around in their souped up mini Bentleys or whatever the fashion is but as Buzz says, we'd better start winning the thing.

And Rumenigge might well be a twat, I don't know, I've never met him but it does seem odd that losing semi finalists make more money than the eventual winners.



Life isn't fair, sometimes you just have to get on with it. We could start by winning tomorrow.

 
OK, they make the CL, The History league, cos let's have it right, it did get boring when you had the Sky top4 every year, unless you supported one of them did you watch it? If I had nothing else to do or the missus wasn't bothered about Corrie or Eastenders, then I might have had it on, but it wasn't the 1st thing I turned to, same I suppose of like Hull fans today, they don't give a stuff about the CL,

It was and always will be a greed is great league, and as AC Milan, Inter, Liverpool, and Manure are not in it, they don't like it, History is what you teach the kids in school, and it's great to learn about it, but to have a say in the future of a football compitition that is wrong,but from a decrepit and bent organisation such as Uefa i wouldnt bet against it being instated... this is shite, and wrong in so many levels....
