The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Taken from Men’s Health:

“You don’t have to while away every evening on the gym floor – you just need to be consistent. The British Journal of Sports Medicine found that men who did 30 mins exercise six days a week cut their risk of early death (by any cause) by 40%.”

Not sure why people don’t want to while away every evening in the gym personally (!) but it is more than worth noting. 30 mins can easily be done, even if you are just walking up and down your own stairs (not aimed at people in bungalows) or doing press ups, cruches, star jumps, squats etc whilst watching tv if you really can’t rip yourself away from the goggle box. A 30 minute walk every day works wonders – or a jog/run if fit enough.

Don’t take for granted your health folks, it’s a right horrible thing when you lose it, trust me.

Get up. Get out. Live.

Amen to my post or Deano's :10: :3:

It is preachy dude, I agree... !!!!!!!

But it's also a tad important!

(And yes, I know you were joking... :15: )

((You were joking werent you!?!?))

(((That was a famous line, well, famous for me, from my nephew btw! 'I know you are teasing Uncle PT. I know you are teasing................................. You are teasing aren't you PT?')))

Defo Amen to your post.

If I was PM I would make it law that EVERYONE does 1 hours exercise a day.

It would nearly solve the NHS crisis.

Amazing my first martial arts thing this morning, I feel SO much more energised than I have for weeks.

Get a dog. I know you're allergic, Fear, but for those that aren't it's been proven to be good for you. What greater excuse for a walk?

Saw the title of this thread and thought it was a live tour to promote your forthcoming book!

:19: :2:

Indeed... ANY sort of movement is better than none, and for those who have office-based jobs, even a simple 10-minute walk around the building, or the car park, or wherever is better than nothing.

Was my first thought reading the thread aswell Heath.

Since getting my pooch in August i have well and truly slimmed down. Long term she will be my running buddy but as she is only six months and still growing i am not running her but keeping to 40-45 min walks, 2 or 3 times a day. And thats the thing, if possible every other evening i go for a 50 min run then come home and take her for a walk so thats a good hour and a half of exercise. And her walks and amount of exercise will only increase as she gets older. There are other things linked to pooch aswell , my alcohol consumption is right down . Where on a friday night i would sink several pints i am up early next day to walk pooch so cannot be arsed to feel heady so will have nowhere near that amount. Maybe one bottle of beer. Not for everyone i know but its been a changer in many ways getting a dog.

The other thing thats helped is the quick hit exercise that i do in the gym. 20-25 mins of box jumps, circuit and step work seem to be better for me than a plod round the streets. I am no racing snake at 6ft 3 with a suspect back.
