General NFFC thread

We’re the only team in the EPL not to have released their away strip other than possibly Villa - that just seems negligent from a sales perspective, especially given it was leaked a good month ago. So many people buy to wear abroad in the summer and it seems to be a beauty of a kit so can’t believe we’re gonna approach Autumn before releasing it.

What are people’s view on how well we’re run as a club? I don’t come at this thinking we’re run badly btw, because in terms of our buying and selling at a profit, you can argue we do things very well… but generally, I find us quite a strange club. We go from scattergun 30 signings and no sponsor for 2/3rds of our first season, missing key income for PSR, to strategic signings and sales and moving at a snails pace.

Behind the scenes things change very regularly and outside of EM it’s almost impossible to say who’s a person of influence at the club - maybe George Syrianos?

We make headlines for all the wrong reasons because of EM’s behaviour, but then are excellent in the community and EM is exceptionally generous, which of course isn’t picked up in the mainstream media.

We definitely do things as if we're the first football club that ever existed and we have to 'trial and error' everything.
We have our own way.
I think the fact that we are constantly hiring and firing backroom staff probably contributes alot to this.

Generally though its not like we're an embarrassment or anything, we get things done and our way of doing things does lead to some completely unforseen/surprising successes as well as what you would see as some bizarre failures.

I doubt many clubs would conduct their incoming transfer the way we do, but at the same time how many clubs would have been able to hold on to MGW last Summer?

The MGW point is a great example - such a weird scenario and I don’t believe any club outside the top 6 stops that transfer happening (although tbf I think Palace did similar with Olise and Chelsea).

EM does make us a big in terms of our bargaining power when it comes to selling or negotiating, but then equally, a £60m release clause for a £44m signing in MGW is an example of the bizarreness again.

My biggest fear for us is if EM gets snookered legally, or his weight finally impacts his health - I know that’s a morbid thought, but he’s 60 next year and whilst that’s not old, I don’t know many people that weight that live a long life. He clearly is Forest and we need him fit and healthy for as long as possible

Yeah we definitely are a club run by one man lol.
I don't think its worth being worried about EM though, any problems we might run into on that front are things that are already going to happen at some point, we just have to try and make sure we're ready for whatever happens next, but that could be years and years away.
 
Our commercial department is shocking, slow and needs to step up. Sponsorship revenues lacking behind now, and this pre season another case in point

I've always seen this kind of thing as 'not something for fans to bother about'.
Its not our money, right?
It doesn't affect the football we get to see.
The person this hits hardest is EM and if he wanted it sorted it would be sorted within a month. He obviously doesn't care that much about that kind of thing for whatever reason.

I think your point on being run by 1 man can be part of the problem when that man has many businesses

Because as I said before last season shit show… and nothing has changed. People get defensive but as you stated, this is pretty simple shit and it’s wasted opportunities alongside no sponsor yet… it’s just one last minute shitshow to another

Surely we have enough staff in marketing to get ahead of this just fucking once!

We are an embarrassment and it’s in the stupid shit we could organise that makes it worse. We laugh at Parrish and palace and let’s be honest, we aren’t a million miles away from stupid shit.

Kits/sponsors should be basic shit

Transfers shouldn’t be as chaotic as they are

We also stayed in the Premier League after getting promoted- one of not too many clubs to do so - for the exact reason that people were laughing at us. Our transfer policy.

People can laugh, but they stop laughing pretty fucking quick when we're winning don't they?

Of course, I'm sure you'd be less embarrassed if we didn't have EM to go storming onto the pitch in our 15th consecutive Championship season or whatever it would be now without him.

I prefer to be on Forest's side about this stuff, what with me being a Forest fan and all. I can't get my head around why you want to support Forest at all. All you ever talk about is how shit all of our players are, how terrible it is being a Forest fan and how embarrassing the club is.

If you completely wilfully ignore anything positive that happens ever its not a mystery why your experience of everything is so totally negative.
 
I was posting yesterday about MGW wanting to play in the Champions League, and the possibility of having to leave Forest to do so.

Our old friend Scott McKenna, has of course already done so with Copenhagen, and is on course to do so again. I am still in Croatia, and noticed that Dinamo Zagreb won their first leg third qualifying round 5 0 yesterday. Assuming they go through against their Lithuanian opponents, they would face FK Viking from Norway for a Champions League place. Even if unsuccessful v Viking they would still be in Europa League.

The likes of MGW, and Murillo, or even Milenkovic who was a Conference League finalist with Fiorentina, do probably wonder about that.

When there was FFP, bizarrely it was better to have no sponsor and an assumption of £10M revenue than an actual sponsor paying less!

That maybe something to do with this. Or it may be getting ahead od the imminent prohibition on betting sponsors, when betting sponsors were all that most clubs, including Forest, had.

If it is Midea fridges, then at least they will not be Fawaz fridges! He was very prompt with that sponsorship, and I can't say I wish for that.
 
The sponsors are the allotment that the snertz frequent.
We will proudly wear 'Moobs' on our shirts.
AC and Apollyon have a press release booked at 12 with Bert and Edna.

You should post like this more frequently - A**** (that A with four stars, not calling here).

People do get het up with all manner of things that they pretend to understand, but how much do those things (sponsorship, commerical workflows etc) affect the thing that is most important - watching the footie? Probably very little...

Transfers, player trading and the coaching setup are obviously key; but the rest of it...meh, WGAF?
The lights stay on, the water is still cold, the old girl won't be enlargened and the beer is shit: all positives for a great season ahead!
