General NFFC thread

BBC 1 currently showing 'Robin Hood', a more recent version than the Errol Flynn stuff of my youth. Seems like gritty Sean Bean Robin Hood.

But anyway, hope we smash it next season and prove doubters wrong.

In a way, so what? There are always people peddling opinions, most of which turn out to be wrong. I always overestimate Nottingham Forest's chances, because I want them to do well. I would have thought most on here do the same.

Personally, I think Nottingham Forest will finish well above 18th. But someone has to finish there, and what are the reasons for saying someone else?

My first thought is promoted sides will all go straight back down.

Exactly, its just an opinion, and theres no mileage in stating the obvious, as in it will be the three promoted teams going straight back down.

That's always the first thought to be fair. But two survived last season, the first since all 3 promoted teams survived back in 22/23.

I'm not convinced any of the promoted sides are particularly strong, but there do seem to be a couple of established PL teams doing their best this summer to ensure an interesting relegation race.

I just hope we aren't one of them.

Yeah I mean it shouldn’t bother me even a bit but for whatever reason it does.

I suppose they’re looking at it like - well they were 16th last year and have since lost their best player so, figures.

When you read their write up, they don't offer a single compelling reason why they have put us to be relegated.

They have predicted us to be relegated 3 seasons out of 5 now and near the relegation zone in all five.

This is a really complimentary write up, as usually they are dripping with sarcasm and mocking.

I don't think they have a reason - they just always want to say at least one of the promoted teams will stay up, this year they have picked Coventry. The year we finished 7th they were determined that Ipswich could survive at our expense and they got nowhere near

Hull are having a shocking window so far- they are actually a bit weaker than the awful side that came up, because some key players have left. As it stands, Derby's record is under threat again.

Coventry are not doing any business that impresses me. Have spent most of the summer securing the expensive keeper from Brighton they already had on loan. Nothing impressive yet. Their fans think their side is already good enough because they won the title fairly easily. Sweet summer children, they have no idea

Even with the squad we have I think we have enough in fairness. There are a lot of teams that will be weaker certainly and I haven’t seen anything from the promoted sides to suggest a repeat of last season…

Just lost 2 minutes of my life on that- not even internally consistent- points our back 5 was 8th best and then suggests we will be 18th.
