General Football thread

Good morning chaps.

I have been asked to post a message regarding some of the recent content in some of these threads.

If possible, can we keep the threads based upon Forest & football - of you want to discuss other matters, then please keep it to 'off topic'.

Apologies but putting this message in those currently active threads,

Cheers

I know its probably just another one of things that I can't get my head round because I'm old, but I really am beginning to despair at what is happening to the game I've always known & loved. There doesn't seem
to be any appetite for maintaining the traditions of the "British game". Everything in top level football seems to be being eroded in the pursuit of yet more income for international governing bodies at the expense of the game at club level.

Football is nowhere near as enjoyable as it used to be. The style of football isn't as entertaining all this tippy tappy bollox , var , sky high pricing ,now they have fanny breaks for religious crap and players that need to hydrate as they can't last until half time for fucks sake , absolute shit show.
Its sports science that has ruined it, the on the pitch stuff at least.
The idea that you have to get 100% of the energy possible out of a player on match day and leave them with nothing.
Then you have to have perfect scientific recovery between matches or they'll be too exhausted to do it again, which leaves no time for actual training.
That the game should be played at the fastest possible speed, which has ruined the rules of the game because tackling becomes dangerous and potentially career ending at that pace.

Then there's the other side that changed with the Premier League where they decided to make football a middle class game because working class people are too violent and unpredictable, and oh yeah that means they can put the prices up and up as high as they want.

I've mentioned before that i think players are too finely tuned nowadays and more liable to pick up muscular injuries and tweaks .

Its a good point, but given there is no stipulation on the amount they run (during games or in training) their physical load, amount they're benching etc, then all teams will look towards the physical to make those fine marginal gains.

I find it surprising that the juicing to enable this kind of output hasn't been more widely screened.

Can't think of many other players other than Mutu (and that was for recreationals, not doping) who have been collared.

Didn't Maradona shoot growth hormones into his thighs when a youngster, thus allowing the speed and strength to come forth?

Easter like Christmas has always been an important time in the fixture list. Bumper holiday crowds and a serious run of games in a relatively short period of times. Seasons have been won and lost during these holiday periods (sometimes).
