General Football thread

not at all chap.

Why we didn’t make a play for Lewin is a ragret I’ll carry with me forever.

Absolute quality and should be on the plane for Englands glorious QF failure this summer….IMO

😎

And wishing injury on any player is just a bit mean….IMO.

And hope you’re having a good day, pal….IMO

Are you sure you're not his agent?

FIFA has 10,000 unsold World Cup tickets in USA. This week thousands more have been handed back as supporters view the status of non USA citizens in America. Tourists hassled at border control and heavy handed tactics by authorities. Certain fans from South America and Africa are reviewing plans.

How Bad is it? Am sure a few here have visited the USA recently. Likening events to Berlin Olympics in 30’s looks harsh but the “brown shirts” are making in bid for power. Anyone got any plans?

Well, they shot an American woman for driving forward about 2 feet with her dog in the back of her car.

Even Hitler's SA didn't wear pathetic masks to cover their faces.

I don't think anyone who isn't a Trump supporter is likely to feel all that welcome, at least from the noise we get on the outside.

Me and my wife with my step son with his wife and daughter, had planned to go over there as a combined 40th for him, 60th for my wife and also my retirement. Would have been a classic, epic road trip accross the US.

Neither of us can justify the financial cost nor the moral cost and have sacked the whole thing off, so now we'll go to South Africa and visit family there where, even with the issues there, we'd likely feel safer.

The comparison with late 1920's, early 1930's is eerily apt. I am off to Atlanta on Monday, and I am in the US pretty much every month give or take.

I can assure all on here that the Americans are on the whole, embarrassed about all of this. It's going to be a very interesting 11 months in the lead up to the mid terms, and then into the next election. What will happen then, is anyones guess

Embarrassed? They should be angry.

Well, the country is split 50/50. So 50% are bloody angry and in total disbelief. Most of the other 50% are at least embarrassed and apologetic, going out of the way when I met pretty much all of the holiday makers in Mexico last June, when they realised that we (and our English friends who also live in Canada) were living in Canada. To a man and woman, they apologised and said 'please dont think we are all like the president'

His rhetoric against Canada is pretty staggering. Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario instantly banned all US wine and Booze from our LCBO's (Provincial run giant off licenses) and Canadian to US travel is down over 60% YOY

My neighbour just sent me a link for this

He says the parallels are uncanny! Any good Polly?
A stark reminder. As a film I enjoyed it. Thought Russell Crowe was brilliant. Good and solid but not brilliant. Problem is as it was based on true events and I knew most of significant events in the plot. Would recommend if only for the messages. Surprised Trump allows such messages to get past the censor.
