General Football debate and news thread 26/27

34 playing with a pacemaker, Im not all that shocked. Might be a bit surprised that he hasnt hung it up with his health issues. Time for a big retirement party, and a testimonial at White Hart Lane.

COYS CE!

.
He's had a good career but I think it's time to call it quits, if not for himself, for the sake of his family and friends. But it's his call of course.

Reports suggests that he is doing well under the circumstances, and as X and Geof say, it's time to hang the boots up.
Happy birthday Lija.

Apparently Christian is fine, he has an implant which shocks the heart if it stops or goes into an abnormal rythm, this is what happened on the pitch so it did exactly what it should do. It's just unfortunate that it happened while he was playing. A doctor speaking on TV today said it's fairly normal these days for people with these devices fitted to lead a normal life in terms of activities and exercise. That said, he's had a good career and should maybe consider winding down a bit.

Now I'm not saying the East London dildo salesmen have had it coming.
For years.
But they have.
I've heard horror stories from some in the know.
But finally it's seems the owners have to pony up to their previous business dealings.
The one that's dead has gotten off lightly.
Couldn't have happened to a nicer club who have literally sold its soul.
Expect a statement from Karen Brady lawyers at any time soon.

Truthfully, I hope they bounce back.
They are an important part of a run down borough.
But, they are in real trouble.

And some used to complain about Daniel.
Go figure.

I’m really surprised that a lot of people are surprised by this .

Brady is as culpable .

As are the whole spammers board .

I’m not sure that the club have any loyalty to the area they reside in , they did absolutely nothing for the area known as Upton Park ,Plaistow, , Greavsie’s
area of Forest Gate. , Canning Town , Silvertown , or any other parts of East End London .

In fact they abandoned it for a freebie move to Stratford .

West Ham used to mean something to the Area .
Players were part of the community .
Bobby Moore had a sports Shop opposite the ground , my first wife lived just opposite Upton Park tube station , we were walking past his shop , when he came running out to get to his car , parked on double yellows , and ran straight into her , knocking her clothes shopping bag out of her hand .

You couldn’t have wished to have met a nicer bloke under such circumstances.
Even offered to drive her home ,.

The club and players WERE part of the community back then . , until they got taken over by people who used people for their own gain .

I suppose they do employ people now at the Taxpayers , but that is about all . The Taxpayers also transformed Stratford out of all recognition including knocking down one of my favourite pubs , where we used to go Sunday lunchtimes to eat Roast potatoes from the plates on the bar and be entertained by Jimmy Jones , the. Comedian who used the phrase “ ‘kin ‘ell “ in all his jokes ,

So nothing Gold has done surprises me , maybe I’m a cynic .
But everyone and everywhere can get along fine without him

Yes, Walt, Gold was as bad but he is no longer with us! Sullivan, well what do you expect from a man who was known as the Porn king. They used to have Pearly Kings in your part of London, Walt. Now more renowned for Sullivans type. Ugh!

I saw a pearly king quite often when i was taken as a kid in the late 50's early 60's to see the Tower of London and outside was a large hardstanding area overlooking Tower Bridge and there used to be a huge bloke who wrapped himself in chains and took 10 seconds to release himself ha ha and there always was a pearly king in all his regalia in that area as well.

I remember that bloke Greavsie , kin ell , but I wouldn’t have if you hadn’t mentioned him !!

I don’t remember the Pearly King though . I was around that area a lot as a child , as my Dads Family all came from Bermondsey , most of them working as Lightermen on the Barges , although my Grandad worked in the Tea Warehouse in the East India Dock at Tower Bridge . He used to take me to work with him occasionally on Bank Holiday Mondays when it was quiet. Fascinating place , huge buildings .
Lots of Lorry’s with three wheeled cabs towing trailers everywhere!
