GB news

To me the best news outlet is Channel 4.

On the telly, it probably is, I agree. The BBC news is shit and ITV is even worse. Just state propaganda! Russia Today and Al Jazeera are interesting to watch for an alternative perspective and different stories but it's still just propaganda.

I used to rate Radio 4 for news but even their news programmes have gone seriously downhill. But the World Service is still very good.

Less than a week after it launched 🤔

I think you’ll find that this was launched before GBnews even started.
I was reading in the Guardian that it’s run by a group calling themselves Stop Funding Hate which is rather ironic when you look at some of their vitriolic tweets.
Bigotry is not exclusive to the right.
Some of these guys are well over the top.

I’ve watched a bit of GBnews and my opinion is that they have had a lot of technical teething problems but I haven’t personally heard anything offensive, more just an alternative view in some cases.

For me I don’t want opinionated news which will happily filter what they report, and will put a slant on anything else. The Guardian does this, the Torygraph, the Mail, the Mirror...no wonder people can’t stand newspapers nowadays.

Oh, the irony, given that its news is fronted by John "I've never seen so many white people in one place" Snowflake.

I haven't seen a lot of GB News - I've flicked it on and seen some of the technical glitches and cheap looking studios, which isn't ideal. I've also seen some of the presenters and pundits lined-up and there are some good (like Neil himself) and some terrible (the awful tabloid Covid denier, Dan Wootton, for example), so I'll probably just infrequently dip in and out of it as I do with other news and media outlets. However, it seems to have got the usual leftie "everything is racist" cancel culture protagonists rattled, so it must be doing something right.

It's hilariously bad. Blank screens, mis-spelled graphics, floundering presenters. Maybe it's teething troubles, but it's cringy at present.

It appears Co op told Stop Funding to go fuck themselves, and just heard Vodaphone pulled plug on advertising on GBNews but have changed their mind and now happy to advertise after giving bollocking to some woke loon for making decisio in first place

Vodafone pulled the plug initially, stating it was unauthorised. Presumably through a third party?

Otherwise they give all platforms a monitoring period before making a judgment on their suitability.

Enid Blyton apparently wrote The Magnificent Seven!

Next they'll be telling their viewers that Noddy and Big Ears wrote, 'Merry Christmas Everybody'!

Bunch of jokers.

But, is it offensive.?
That’s the accusation from the hard left.
The tweets that the founders of Stop Funding Hate put out certainly are.
I’ve read them.
I’m not suggesting that the path taken by some GBnews presenters necessarily agrees with my point of view, but to try and shut down is the road to ruin.
The people who are trying to close it down before it’s even got started are definitely not their target audience.
It’s simply a fact that if it’s not Buddha’s cup of tea, then don’t watch it.
To watch something purely for the reason of getting offended is quite bizarre.

The right wing are generally offensive but I wasn't make that point. I was pointing out that they're making some pretty basic errors and giving the impression that they're a bunch of uneducated thickos.

Watched it a couple of times, not impressed with the general production, sets and apparent unease of the some of the presenters. But, over time they might become more polished and I feel it`s good to stretch out the balance of UK news/magazine type reporting.

I’m curious to know why you find the right wing offensive mate.
Is it the far right neo Nazi types or just ordinary folk who hold a view which is to the right of you.
I think most people find the far right offensive but some people confuse and muddy the waters on this issue.
Let’s take my dear old mum for instance.
She voted Tory all of her life and definitely leaned to the right politically.
A more inoffensive person it would be impossible to find.
Paradoxically, my dear old dad was Labour through and through.
I’m one of four children.
Three of us are to the left and one is to the right.
I’m pretty sure that he’s not offensive.
A bit fucking nutty, but in no way offensive.

We have had this discussion in Labour for a long time. When someone goes so far to the left, they consider anyone who doesn’t agree with them to be right wing.
Some consider Blair as far right now!
Sure, he’s of dubious morals, but far right?
My preferred attitude is that everyone is entitled to their opinion and entitled to express it.
If you don’t like it or agree with it, get over yourself.

No, you're correct, it's the far right that I find particularly offensive.

Having said that, working class Tories (think Alf Garnett) do really piss me off. The Tories have always been the enemy of the working class but because of so many working class people are undereducated and full of prejudice the Tories get their vote.

I do take the point about your mum. A lot of my extended family are working class Tories (as a boy I got taken to meet and get a present from Father Christmas every year at the Upper Gillingham Conservative Club) but that doesn't stop them being friendly and loving people.

As for Bliar, he clearly isn't far right. But neither is he left wing. He's to the right of Corbyn or Tony Benn but to the left of Pritti Patel or Thatcher. He's no socialist but neither is he a fascist. I'd say he's more of an opportunist.

I think Labour have taken that badge.
The red wall seats will continue to fall in my opinion.
Take the upcoming Batley by-election , this is Labours manifesto.
Will the working class really vote for this stuff ?leadbeater-leaflet.jpg
