Gay Cake?

I'm just a computer geek. I do what I am paid for, to a point. Obviously I wouldn't assist in promoting say terrorism or anti-Islam propaganda.

Scientology I see the same as Christianity, Islam and any other Cult. If people are stupid enough to believe it, then that is their problem.

Why discriminate?

In a certain way and to some, your post discriminates against people of various faiths as you call them stupid. So to end your post with "why discriminate" is a bit contradictory. Not only are mocking a huge % of the World's population, you are mocking some of our very own posters and members of Vital Villa.

I would guess many people disagree with you on here but remain silent politely as they wish not offend.

Anyway, that is you I guess and your personality.

Here is an interesting video (only 5 mins long) which explains one reason why the guilty verdict for the bakers could be a wrong move;

No, discriminating would be treating stupid people differently, not calling them stupid. I have many stupid relatives and friends. I treat them the same as all my other ones.

Personally, I think you should leave such remarks out when you post, I don't see the need or relevance other than to try and offend.

In truth, they're only aimed at you, and I enjoy it. I got exactly the reaction I wanted.

Fortunately, we have enough intelligent Christians here to balance the books against the tripe you post.

WHere are you Melon. I could always pop round. :62:

Sorry Heath, they are mine, all mine !!!!

Noooooooo!!!! I would climb mountains, cross deserts and swim oceans for good cake (gay or not).

How can you keep them all to yourself?

We had home made bread, butter & pear pudding for afters tonight with a lovely homemade custard. Just thought I would throw that in as we are talking food.

Remember this story? Finally reached the Supreme Court who found in favour of the bakery.

UK supreme court backs bakery that refused to make gay wedding cake
Judges find in favour of appeal, ruling there was no discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation

A Belfast bakery run by evangelical Christians was not obliged to make a cake emblazoned with the message “Support Gay Marriage”, the supreme court has ruled, overturning a £500 damages award imposed on it.

In a unanimous decision, the UK’s highest court found in favour of an appeal by Ashers, which had refused to produce the cake in 2014 for Gareth Lee, a gay man who supports the campaign to legalise same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland.

I'm not sure what to make of that yet given the distinction they drew because it's couched in not giving permission or allowing a personal opinion to now deliver a racist comment but you can deny Halloween or a stag party, but in the same instance it's still discrimination on a homosexual basis???

But it's apparently not about the Church or belief?

This just raises more questions than it answers.

Why didn't they just make an excuse, rather than provocatively discriminating?
Why didn't the customer just go somewhere else?
Why are some devout Christians such vile tossers when Jesus says they should be the opposite?

The whole thing just belongs in the 50's, not the modern World.

It seems to me that the guy who ordered the cake was on a bit of a fishing expedition, certainly when the bakery refused to make the cake in the first place.

As you say Heath, why didn't he just go elsewhere? Because he could maybe smell some legal action and damages? Surely not!

From what they said, they took his order and took his money then he was contacted later, and the judgement implies the customer should now know whether a 'company' has a belief system in place that may or may not serve them depending on the request made?

Have they ever made a wedding cake for a divorced couple?

:hmmm:

It's good publicity, which I would guess was in his mind. In the 4 years since, I would also say that attitudes may have changed.

The ruling actually makes a bit of sense. They have ruled that it was the message, not the person or his sexual leaning, that they objected to. They claim they would have refused it even if a straight man requested it.

Given that, one has to ask why Gay marriage offends so many? It doesn't effect them, and can make the people involved very happy. I know my gay friends that are married are love it. It's time to forget a stupid book we know is made up and edited and start looking at people themselves.

That's the bit I'm trying to get my head around, because presumably if true - why decline the order and refund rather than explaining?

But if the message offends - Women Have Rights, Black Lives Matter, Not All Gingers Are Weird? Where does that then draw the line? Could a racist baker refuse a birthday cake with the name DeSean etc etc? Can we now freely discriminate based on first or last names and thus presumption?

That's my problem as well, Mike. Where does the line get drawn, because at some point you are discriminating.

If you bake cakes, then bake cakes. Just get on with it.
