Finding his feet in this league now - brilliant goal and all round performance last night.

We need to show a little patience with our players and the manager will hopefully mould them into the surprise package for the pundits this season. Even Colin Murray was singing our praises on Saturday night.

The difference with Gavin this season is that he has bulked up and is a lot bigger than last season and it seems to have given him a lot of confidence and he has been a breath of fresh air.

He's been a lot braver with the ball, not turning back as much. Also isn't hiding from the play, his movement off the ball has improved massively. Also he's won some 50/50's. All in all he's improved his all round game.

Along with Jacobs they both started last season well and then faded. Hopefully they can continue the form they have shown at the start of this season. Anyone heard anything about how long Jacobs will be out for?

He's obviously better than last season which isn't saying much but it is an improvement. Let's hope his confidence doesn't evaporate and he becomes the hide and seek champion again.

I didn't realise he went off injured?

Pointed to his leg whilst signaling the bench. Possibly hamstring, calf or knee. Was hobbling around for a min then sat down, was subbed a few seconds after. Looked like a pulled hamstring but pure guess work.

I think last season it was pretty obvious that Massey was a very good player on his day but the issue was his day just wasn't often enough. Every time he committed to run at his full back he skinned them but so often he hesitated or passed the ball to others rather than back himself when the chance was there to go at them.

I looked at the way he walked on and off the pitch and he always seemed to have his head down, he just didn't look like a naturally confident lad. I don't think the stick he was getting from some fans at games or on line was helping him at all either.

Towards the end of the season he seemed to find his confidence again after a long spell where his form was lacking (though never his work rate) and I'm delighted he's carried it on.

I suspect the big difference is down to his confidence more than anything else, he's stopped second guessing himself and is now just going for it when the chance presents itself to run at the full back and I'm so pleased for him. The lad has never let us down for effort and while some of the critasism levelled at him year year was fair, some of it was way over the top. I think Gavin just needs to keep believing in himself as he's a better player than he sometimes seems to give himself credit for.

I thought this lad got a rough ride last year from some of our supporters. He always seemed to put the effort in but sometimes tried too hard and as a result ended up looking a bit daft when things didn't run for him.

I am glad for him that this year thigns are oing his way and just hope that should things change that people don't get on his back becasue he is obviously a "confidence" player.

Hopefully Jacobs isn’t serious but we do have options there. Particularly windass and I know we were up a man but he has looked very good in his two cameos.

I also noticed that, let's just hope Jacobs felt a twinge and came off before any damage was done and a couple of days rest is all he needs. He'd be a big loss with the way he is playing at the moment.

But you don't mind picking up Sam Morsy every time he misplaces a pass though

I didn't "pick him up" when he misses passes. I simply said that he seems to be missing more passes and this is the only flaw in what was otherwise a very good performance. Sam's defensive work is very good, but, unlike last year, his attacking work is a bit off.

The difference is that one is an established international who is not lacking in confidence and the other is a younger player who maybe needs a little support rather than getting booed by some of the crowd as he was last year.

As I said earlier Gavin has bulked up and looks a lot stronger.
This wont go down well I know but Sammy Morsy is being caught out for pace so far this season, I cant fault his all round game but he looks slow when chasing back there are a lot of quick players in this league.
Tin Helmet ready

Massey has always done well against teams who don’t park the bus and give him space. We’ll be back to criticising him if he plays against Rotherham and they sit back. For that reason I’d start McManaman in that game as he can run at them. Or both if Jacobs is injured for a while. Got to give the plaudits to Paul Cook. He’s turning these players into established Championship players game by game.

Morsy has been putting in consistent 7/10 performances in a team of 8/10 & 9/10 displays. He doesn't rely on pace but needs to be wary of holding onto the ball in midfield. He's at his best pinging the ball around, closing down, and driving forward. In recent games he's been caught travelling with the ball across midfield. It's too easy for pacy opposition to nip in and win the ball.
