Gates To The Left Of Me, Fences To The Right - Really, What Is An Aston Villa Striker To Do

Vital Football Legend
Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack was back amongst the headlines yesterday - no he hasn't done anything or found himself surrounded by fast-growing picket fences - it was simply in relation to news that there appears to be no way back for him under Steve Bruce as he is not with us out at our training camp in Portugal and it seems Bruce has discovered Paul Lambert's diary and wants to try out the tactic called 'bomb squad'.

This is so stupid as we saw what happened with this tactic last time.

We are not in a position to exclude players.

We are on those who are fat wasters, who have taken the piss out of you,me and thousands of villa fans for months. Do you really think if his attitude was better if he turned round to Bruce and said I'm sorry I really want to work hard and make amends and get back into the side that Bruce wouldn't take that opportunity. Why should the club continue to bend over backwards for this waster when there are young players who are chomping at the bit to be included

This is about Mcormack and his attitude and not our manager who has only tried to do what's best since he arrived whether it has worked or not. Has fat boy ?. McCormack has had a year now to sort himself out. There is only so much others can do. There comes a time when the individual has to take responsibility for his actions. He clearly cannot be bothered so sorry, fuck him. For him I don't care if the club is cutting off its nose to spite his face. He is taking the mickey out of the club and us fans and is not worthy of our support.

But doing this just means that nobody will be interested in him and we will have to pay his wages for the rest of his contract.

Yep. And that is the player power in modern football. They hold all cards and know that they are on thousands and thousands a week whether they play or not. So there does not have to be much motivation from a player nowadays.

But I will say again he clearly is not interested in getting back and no one can change that apart from the individual themselves. In truth no one knows whether he or the club have made much effort. If I was a betting man though I know which side of the story I believe.

And if the club had of had that attitude with Merse, who had massive gambling and booze problems and GOD, who was a massive pisshead would they have given us so much enjoyment. Would GOD now be a club legend?
If McCormack is given some professional help, we could benefit from his skills for two or three seasons and no matter what you think of the man, he is highly skilled at what he does.

Bring him back into the squad or pay him off.
Please just deal with the issue once and for all, stop pissing about.

It is not good for the club, player or supporters, we should not be having this debate.

Perhaps he has been offered help and refused it. Has he actually got a problem ? No one really knows Merse and God did because the came out and admitted it but with McCormack no one really knows. so we can't jump to conclusions.

All I can glean is that his attitude must be atrocious if Bruce has washed his hands of him for a third time.

For me its the timing of the McCormack Gate Incident.

The club is backs to the wall fighting for our lives and he goes missing....

The pathetic excuse is I suspect the reason Bruce has washed his hands.

Again.
Sooner or later it comes down to the individual.
Merse and God clearly, despite their issues, still had the motivation to get on with their job if they could and accept help. Quite frankly mentioning fat boy in the same breath as those two players who gave their all from the moment they came into the club to the moment they left is, well.... .

I don't profess to know for sure, but I would be staggered if the club has not done it's all to sort out McCormack. Why wouldn't they on a 12 million, god knows how much a week investment

Sorry, but for me still blaming the club and Bruce a year down the line is exactly what's wrong nowadays. Not ultimately taking individual responsibility for ones own actions and blaming everything and everyone else for not helping.

This is now firmly in fat boys court. Maybe he could have another jolly at our expense in Australia in time for their summer. That will sort him out.
Oh hang on.....

And I agree Col, for ffs get this sorted Villa. i.e get rid.

In fairness to Ross he's never not wanted to play. When given the opportunity of playing in Australia he grabbed it. Given the opportunity to play in the squad I think he'd grab that.

I think it's less his attitude and more of a personality clash. Bruce doesn't like McCormack's attitude (which is different from saying McCormack's attitude is wrong). McCormack won't bow to Bruce's criticisms.

Personality clashes happen in football; Lambert and Bent for example. It shouldn't happen but it does.

Ross may not be super-fit (he probably never has been, and doesn't really have an athletic build). But he can poach goals, a lot of them. Bottom line; he'd be far more effective than Hogan has been.

If we can't sell Ross there's no way he should be languishing in the bomb squad. If Jack goes we're going to need whatever we've got up front.
