French Mayor calls for France to ban Islam. Is he right or wrong?

A French mayor has been suspended from his party after calling for the country to ban Islam.

Robert Chardon, the UMP mayor of Venelles in southern France, tweeted: “The Muslim religion must be banned in France” and added that anyone practising the religion must be “immediately escorted to the border”.

He also claimed Islam will be banned in France by 2027.

Does history teach us nothing? What an idiotic suggestion, and even more idiotic that 2 people here agree.

In practical terms, how the hell do you ban it? You can't, but you can send it underground, where it will be even easier to convince everyday Muslim's to become radical fundamentalists.

I despair.

I trust you can see that extreme clerics would have more ammunition with which to recruit even more of them? Perfectly happy, peaceful Muslims driven to the outskirts of society, isolated and angry.

History is there for all to see what happens when these sort of things are allowed to happen.
 
Closure of all Mosques, Islam banned, drive it underground and weed it out. Initial issues are protests a few riots but they soon subside. Needs to be done!

Billions of Muslims worldwide, with yet just minimal voice in protest against ISIS = its a fkin disgrace. They sit in silence, or they even openly support ISIS. Behind closed doors many Muslims are cheering the spread of Islamic rule upon the World while we sit and do nothing!

Initial issues are you can not ban thought! You drive it underground you make it more "cool" You can not "weed it out"

"protests a few riots" Try suicide bombings in all major cities, or all out war between Muslim and Christian countries, you would ignite a fire that would be hard to put out.

I have no time for religion, in my opinion it is a crutch for the weak minded, something people turn to when they are not strong enough to handle reality or something that you are indoctrinated into from birth.

But to pick on one religion and try and remove it is not only foolhardy, it is just downright stupid.

I have never had a problem with Muslims and I have known and do know many, the problem isn't Muslims, it's extremists, extremists are always the problem, it doesn't matter what religion they follow, extremists have a mental problem, they feel the need to force their views onto others, even to the extent of wiping out those who don't have the same viewpoint.

Remind you of anyone? From your anti Muslim rants, it is quite obvious that you are an extremist, you are part of the problem, you are just as bad as they are.

It's people like you that should be removed from society, you're a very sick man.
You should seek help, and real help, not "magic man in the sky" help.

:1: Agreed GT. I live in Indonesia, which is a muslim country. It wasn't always muslim. It used to be hindu because of the Indian influence. All the historic monuments like Borobudur and Prambanan are all hindu. They are signs of a once prosperous country. Then it got infested by islam. That was hundreds of years ago, but I can see it in modern countries. They get in, infest then overrun.

And why?, because they don't recognise or accept other religions..... :157:

Britain was once a peaceful and prosperous country and then old Henry invented the COE. Now it's all food banks and immigrants.
 
Remember the good old days when the druids ran things? They knew how to get things done. All the ancient monuments in Britain were built by pagans. Then Christianity had to come along and ruin everything. You let one in, you may as well let them all in. They don't respect other religions.
