Frank de Boer sacked.

Ridiculous after four games, especially as yesterday Palace weren't that bad. They were the bestteam for the last half-hour, and lost to a very early goal created by a brain-fart from one of there players.

FDB is talented, but seems poor at judging the right club to work for post Ajax. Wonder how he would have got on here?

The super dutch players of the past don't seem to too good at transitioning to the role of manager....Crystal Palace and Everton bear witness.....we obviously got the best of the bunch with Joel.

He and Levy would never have been able to work together.

I think you are right as h He wanted too much control I think, and outlined all that in his interview. Levy seems happiest with someone he can manipulate.

Because he seems never to have been more happy with a manager than he is right now, as Porky has in the last three seasons done exactly as he was told. He happily goes along with there beiing no incomings until Levey tells him there will be, and even allowed himself to go into a new season having only one striker in the senior squad - a 21 year old with one season PL experience behind him.

Tell me that Redknapp or any other decent manager would have gone along with that.

Supposition, no proof, no facts.

Same old, same old.

^ The real issue is as Pochettino was supposedly doing Levy's bidding we finished 3rd and then 2nd.

Those are facts. Despite whatever circumstances led to that, those are hard results that cannot be disputed.

Replaced by Hodgson. Now that's a hard kick in the cojones for the farmer.

Koeman could well be next, if they get badly beat this weekend, they'll chop him up and ship him out.

They're a mess. And Koeman hasn't proven that he is a good manager yet. He inherited the Southampton squad and had Lukaku last season.

Think you got yourself mixed up there 80. When Porky arrived at Southampton he inherited a back to back promotion winning team from Adkins, and tinkered with it over 2.5 years to take them to their highest ever (at that time) PL finish.

When Koemann went to Southampton, 7 of the first team / squad had just left, we were actively pursuing one of the remaining main players, and all the talk was that it was turning into a fire-sale. Koeman steadied all that and bought in a whole load of replacement players in a single window which he imediately blended into a team. In that first season (his first in the PL) he got a higher finish than Porky had managed. That impressed me, and it really seemed as though he had upped his game from what he had achieved previously.

Right now at Everton he is looking pretty poor though, and that is surprising. I don't really get Everton, as Martinez was pretty astute and he ended up running out of ideas too.

Mmmm, Not sure I agree with that. I do agree that MP inherited Adkins good works and improved upon it.

I'm loathe to agree with Archie but he does have that pretty on point (although I think he MASSIVELY underestimates Poch's work to improve Adkins squad).

However I think it's revealing when I spoke to some Southampton fans they said of Koeman around that time "he's good, but he's no Pochettino". I was surprised by that assessment after he got them a higher position than Poch did, as Archie said with a lot of new players bedded in, but I think they just thought they were a better team under Poch.

Anyway, too early in the season to be writing Koeman off, but I do wonder if he's the sort of manager who can be very good with mid table sides but won't be able to make that jump to the elite. Part of his success at Southampton was unearthing a few gems from the Dutch league who improved on what Southampton had when he got there, it's another thing altogether to unearth gems that can improve a top 5 team. Really in this window he was just competing for players we were mostly all already aware of, and I said before the season started I didn't think their acquisitions would be enough to see them move up the table significantly.
