Nobody goes off like the clappers and wins the World Cup with beautiful football from Day One. On that kind of form, France are the sort of team I'd put my money on. In fact, I've got a horrible feeling about Germany rising from the dead and winning it because that's exactly the kind of thing they do, mainly to spite me.

And let’s not rule out England recovering from their disappointing win.

I agree with you, Bromley. Nobody's stood out so far (apart from Russia, but that's probably a flash in the pan). It's completely wide open.

Having said that, it looks like that at this stage every world cup, and still the usual suspects go on and win it. Enjoy it while it lasts.
